Принадлежит: BAKELITTFAB AS, BAKELITTFABRIKKEN A/S

The invention relates to a method of producing molded bodies of expanded plastic having a predetermined denaity, based on a starting material in granulate form to which a blowing agent and optionally a cross-linking agent have been added, said starting material being introduced into an injection molding machine/press in which it is heated and injected/pressed into a mold. In order to obtain an efficient production process without loss of raw material and a product whose density can be determined in advance, the material in the injection molding machine/press is heated to a temperature which is below the temperature required to initiate the reaction of the blowing agent/cross-linking agent, and the blank thus formed is subsequently transferred to an expansion mold having the shape of the desired final product, but larger than the blank. The blank is caused to expand in the expansion mold and final expansion takes place outside the expansion mold. One is thus permitted to operate with a lower ...

The pressure sensing system includes a layer of an electrically conductive foam (28) and a flexible printed circuit (26) that includes a flexible substrate (26a) and N horizontal sensing wires (26b) and M vertical sensing wires (26c) securely placed on a top surface of the flexible substrate. The horizontal sensing wires intersect with the vertical sensing wires and form NXM intersections. The layer of an electrically conductive foam is placed on top of the N horizontal sensing wires and the M vertical sensing wires. When a pressure is applied to the layer of the electrically conductive foam, each intersection generates in real time an electric flux density value to reflect a degree of a compression caused by the pressure to a corresponding point of the electrically conductive foam.

The process for manufacturing a seat cushion (1) having a molded foam body of an automobile vehicle having a passenger detection layer, comprises injecting a foam precursor mixture in a cavity (4), expanding the foam, placing a strip (5) in a demolding position, demolding the cushion by removing the strip to define a housing, and inserting the layer in the housing. The strip has a geometry same to that of the layer. The molding is produced in a mold (3) defining the cavity. A first end (6) of the strip is rotatably mounted on the mold. METHOD FOR PRODUCING FOAM RUBBER MOULDED PARTS AND MOULDED PARTS PRODUCED BY THIS METHOD

For producing foam rubber moulded parts, for example spheres, balls, discs, sheets, cylinders or profiled pieces, it is proposed that only the outer layer (4) of the moulded part consists of foam rubber. For this purpose, firstly a solid or hollow inner core (3) of rubber or plastics material is positioned in a casting mould (1) with a cavity (2) made to match the outer dimensions of the moulded part. Subsequently, a dish-shaped intermediate space (4) between the inner core (3) and the inner wall (2a) of the cavity (2) of the casting mould (1) is filled with a mixture of a rubber composition and a blowing agent. After filling, the casting mould (1) is heated to a temperature at which the blowing agent is converted into a blowing gas, which makes the rubber composition expand, and at which the rubber composition in foam form is vulcanized to form an open-cell rubber. The finished, vulcanized moulded part is subsequently removed from the casting mould (1) and an outer skin that may be present ...

Aircraft composite components having foam cores comprising at least two foam sheets joined with a sheet of honeycomb to form a foam-honeycomb-foam sandwich. The layers of sheet foam are in contact with each other and the honeycomb cells extend a substantially equal depth into and generally perpendicular to the sheet foam layers. The composite component has increased shear strength. The aircraft composite component can be made by aligning a layer of honeycomb between and generally perpendicular to two layers of sheet foam. A compressive force is applied generally perpendicular to at least one layer of sheet foam so that the honeycomb cells penetrate each of the two layers of sheet foam to a substantially equal depth so that the layers of foam contact each other to form a foam-honeycomb-foam sandwich. The foam core is surrounded by resin impregnated fibers and cured.

SAILBOARD OR SURFBOARD AND ITS METHOD OF MAKING A B S T R A C T A method making a sailboard or surfboard is described, in which a prefabricated foam core has fibrous material wound about it and a polyurethane resin specially set with a reaction retarder is poured onto the fibrous material, whereupon the thus treated foam core is inserted in a moulding tool and the mould is closed for curing the polyurethane resin. Desireably, the mould is lined with a surface layer, particularly a deep drawn thermoplastic film, before the treated foam core is inserted. In this way one can make low-weight boards of high strength with relatively low production and material costs.

Foam seat element, and process and mold for producing same

Номер: US20150028650A1
Принадлежит: Proprietect LP

There is described a padded element comprising a foam substrate having disposed therein a first internal surface and a second internal surface opposed to the first internal surface, the first internal surface being interposed between an outer surface of the foam substrate and the second internal surface, at least one of the first internal surface and the second internal surface comprising a textured portion. In a highly preferred embodiment, the pair of internal surfaces disposed within the body of the foam substrate combine to form one or more cavities in the foam substrate (e.g., by the provision of one internal surface have a textured portion and the other internal surface being untextured). The provision of such a textured surface creates a contacting interface (either at rest or when an occupant sits on the seat) between below or remote from the A-surface of the foam element. This interface has different properties than the exposed surface of the seating element. By adopting this internal interface approach to one or more zones of foam element, it is possible to confer different qualities of comfort and feel to the outer surface of the foam element (e.g., A-surface of a vehicular seat element) even though the appearance of that outer surface may be relatively non-textured. In this manner, the occurrence of “read through” described above is obviated or mitigated. A process and mold for produce the padded element are also described.

A method for producing a sailing or surfboard is described in which a prefabricated foam core is wrapped with fiber material and a polyurethane resin specially adjusted with a reaction retarder is poured onto the fiber material, whereupon the foam core treated in this way is placed in a mold and the mold is set to harden of the polyurethane resin is closed. The mold is advantageously lined with a surface layer, in particular a deep-drawn thermoplastic film, before the treated foam core is inserted. In this way, boards with low weight and high rigidity can be produced with relatively low production and material costs.

Method of producing a molded foamed structural member having a honeycomb core adapted for venting

Номер: US3789094A
Автор: D Hutchison
Принадлежит: Monostruct Corp Ltd

A cored, molded structural member comprises a core having a plurality of cells between major faces - a honeycomb core - and having a substantially seamless covering of moldable plastic material which expands while it sets and which, when set, is substantially rigid. Foamable polyurethane is particularly contemplated. At least some of the cells of the core are adapted to have gas communication with other, adjacent cells when the pressure of the gas and/or air within the cell rises. The molded structural member is formed in a mold which is entirely closed and gas tight so as to preclude flow of gas or air outwardly from the mold cavity during the molding operation. Spacers may be used to space the core away from the faces of the mold cavity, and to keep the core from shifting within the mold cavity as the plastic material expands and sets. Pressure relief of the pressurized mold is usually provided before the mold is opened, by making one or more channels through the plastic covering in the core.
