The wavy fin weatherstrip assembly may be manufactured by unbalancing an extrusion die so that the rate of plastic flow through the fin forming orifices is substantially greater than that occurring at the base or substrate forming orifice. Alternatively, the extrusion die can be built in sections and by oscillating the fin orifice section relative to a fixed base orifice section, or vice versa, the wavy fin configuration is obtained.

Each of the threaded pins is rotatably mounted in a first bore in the nozzle body. Each of the bolts is slidably mounted in the nozzle body in a second bore in the nozzle body. The weather strip is intended for application to the edge of an opening or a closure element for the body of a motor vehicle, this edge having successive, substantially straight portions connected by corner portions with small radii of curvature. The strip includes an anchoring section to which a tubular sealing section also of elastomeric material is connected, this being co-extruded with the anchoring section. The tubular sealing section has first and second longitudinal portions intended for connection to corresponding substantially straight portions and to corresponding corner portions of the said edge, respectively. The wall of the tubular sealing section, in the second longitudinal portions, has a thickness which is greater than the thickness of the first longitudinal portions; the increase in thickness is achieved during extrusion of the weather strip. In the prodn. of extruded branched pipes or sheaths, a second retractable die with at least two moving parts (9B) is at the outlet of the die (2) at the extruder tube head, which can be moved together and apart from each other. A main mandrel (7), at the tube head, has at least two dividing mandrel rods (8a, 8b) extending in parallel from the extrusion die (2), from the end of the main mandrel (7). When the moving parts (9B) of the second die are brought together, their shape structure divides the cross section of the extrusion from the main die (2) with two extra dies round the dividing mandrel rods (8a, 8b), to give simultaneous extrusion of two tubes (T2, T3). When the moving parts (9B) are separated, the main die (2) extrudes a single tube (T1). Also claimed is an appts. with an extruder tube head with a second retractable die with at least two moving parts (9B) which can be moved towards and away from each other. The parts, when brought together, divide the cross section of the extrusion from the main die to form at least two dividing dies. Two dividing mandrels (8a, 8b), in parallel, are in front of the main die at the end of the main mandrel (7).

The present invention discloses extruded articles, such as tubing or multilumen catheters, having hybrid composition, an axial length and a transverse cross-section orthogonal to the length. The extruded articles have unitary construction and require no assembly. The composition of each cross-section of the article along the length of the article is homogeneous and comprises a first extrudable material and/or a second extrudable material. The percentage of the two extrudable materials in any cross-section varies along the length of the article in a controlled, either continuous or discontinuous manner. The first and second extrudable materials are preferably elastomers having different durometers, color or radiopacity. The weight percentage of one of the two extrudable materials in a cross-section may vary abruptly, smoothly and/or periodically along the length of the article.
