The two longitudinal edges ( 3, 5 ) of the sheet ( 1 ) are tightly attached to each other and the end of the inner edge being masked by a flexible cover strip ( 6 ). The pocket vial device can be used for reducing the risk of contamination of the product contained in the pouch.

A suture and a suture retainer are positioned relative to body tissue. Ultrasonic vibratory energy is utilized to heat the suture retainer and effect a bonding of portions of the suture retainer to each other and/or to the suture. The suture retainer may include one or more portions between which the suture extends. The suture retainer may include sections which have surface areas which are bonded together. If desired, the suture retainer may be omitted and the sections of the suture bonded to each other. 1. An automatic machine which utilizes sealing tape to seal the edges of a folded article passing therethrough. The machine is so designed that articles which do not require sealing pass through unimpeded. Other articles are sealed by one or more cylindrically-shaped tape applying heads, to each of which there is fed a supply of sealing tape, in combination with folded apparatus. At the appropriate time each of the taping heads is caused to advance against the article to be sealed, causing a portion of the tape to stick to the article. The taping head revolves slightly under the influence of the moving article and then comes to an abrupt halt, breaking the tape. The folding apparatus holds the non-adhered portion of the detached tape around the edge to be sealed and into engagement with the opposite side of the article.

According to a method of manufacturing a fuel tank using polyketone of the present invention, the method comprises: a cover injection step for injection-molding an upper cover and a lower cover by using an injection-molding apparatus; a cover assembling step for respectively placing on upper and lower parts, the upper cover and the lower cover which have been injection-molded in the cover injection step; and a cover fusion step for fusing the contact surface between the upper cover and the lower cover assembled in the cover assembling step by using a laser. The present invention has a structure which can be automated and enables mass-production, the structure having two parts, the upper and lower covers, which are simultaneously molded, taken out, and assembled by a machine, and fused. According to the present invention, the production cost can be significantly reduced, and since the starting material, polyketone, can satisfy the required strength without an additional reinforcing material, the fuel tank can be made light-weight.

The wall panels and/or other components may be extruded (1810) so as to enable the rapid production of sections of wall panels, where the panels may be cut to length (1818) and then affixed to adjacent panels (1822) to form a foundation wall. The method of affixing adjacent panels may include welding, gluing or other techniques and may be performed on the job site or in a pre-fabrication facility. Furthermore, the wall panels may be co-extruded with an insulating material (350, 1810) inserted in the voids between the parallel faces so as to provide improved thermal performance of the foundation as well.

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method is disclosed of forming a seam joining together two edges of a piece of fabric coated on one face with a water-impervious high frequency weldable plastics material, so as to form a water-impervious seam. In the method, the two edges are located together with the said coated faces facing outwardly, a binding strip is located over the said coated faces, the face of the binding strip in contact with the coated faces itself being coated with a high frequency activated material, and a radiofrequency field is applied to the seam to weld together adjacent said coated faces of the binding strip and the fabric. Certain forms of polyurethane and poly(vinyl chloride) are given as examples of high frequency activated materials. A novel seam is also disclosed.

Edges, hems, patches and seams for woven fabric that has been treated for water repellency, and methods for making the same, are shown and described. In one particular embodiment of the invention, for example, a lapped seam between two pieces of water repellent fabric has an outer material at least partially overlapping an inner material, and a laminate strip positioned between the overlapping portions of the materials. The outer and inner materials, which are both oriented in the same direction, have an exterior layer of woven fabric that has been treated with water repellent and/or stain repellent chemicals, and an inner layer comprising a polymer membrane, such as polyurethane. The laminate strip has a bottom portion in contact with the outer layer of the inner material. The bottom portion has a low melt point, high flow rate adhesive system of one or more layers that penetrates and surrounds the fibers in the woven fiber of the outer layer of the inner piece of material. The laminate strip also has a top layer in contact with the inner layer of the outer piece of material. The top layer of the laminate is a thin, elastic, highly abrasion resistant material with a strong bonding affinity for polyurethane. The layers of the laminate strip bond to the adjacent layers of the overlapped material to create a strong lap seam.

The element may comprise a metal wire having an initial coating of polytetrafluoroethylene coated with a B-stage epoxy resin, a polyester or a polyurethane; the coating may be in separate portions rotatable about the conductor so that by attaching the portions to separate articles a hinged joint is formed. Examples are given of using such devices to join building blocks of pressed and stamped cinders and/or concrete mixture; to join two lengths of pipe the end of one of which telescopes into an outwardly flared bell portion at the end of the other; to join sheet metal panels on stoves and refrigerators; to join the fender of a motor car to the body; to join castings or cores to a base plate; to join a wood or metal door or window frame to panelling or concrete blocks; and to join a resilient door seal to a refrigerator door or stove housing.

A method for splicing together first and second webs in end-to-end relationship comprising the steps of (a) providing at least one hold through each web; (b) juxtaposing said webs end-to-end; (c) positioning two splicing patches comprising thermoplastic material on opposite surfaces of said webs and overlying end portions of both webs and said holes therein; (d) passing through both of said patches and each of said holes a hot pin to soften and merge together in each hole softened plastic from said patches. A plurality of joinders can be preformed in this way simultaneously. A joinder can also be provided in the space between the ends of the webs. The initial holes in the webs can be pierced by the hot pin prior to splicing. the apparatus for performing the method includes a first plate having a first hole therein adapted to support the webs and patches, a second plate having a second hole therein aligned with the first hole, a pin movable axially through the two holes, and means for heating the pin. The second plate has an annular boss on the periphery of its hole to force the patch into the second hold slightly before penetration by the heated pin. The two spliced webs as an article of manufacture are also within the invention.

A groove 56 is cut through the inner face-sheet 32 and core 36 of the skin panel 20 leaving the outer face-sheet 34 intact, and the connector H is fitted into the groove with the lower portions 40L,42L of the spaced webs overlying and adhesively bonded to the exposed edges of the core 36 along the side walls of the groove, and the transversely projecting portions 44F,44R of the crossing web 38 overlying and adhesively bonded to the inner face-sheet 32 on opposite sides of the groove whereby the yarn strands F of the crossing web 38 bridge the groove 56 and restore the continuity of the inner face-sheet. A foam insert 54 fills the void in the groove 56 between the web portions 40L,42L bonded therein. The frame element 16 is received between the upper portions 40U,42U of the upright connector webs on the other side of the crossing web 38 from the groove, and these upper web portions 40U,42U are adhesively bonded to the opposite faces 26,28 of the frame element thereby completing a double shear bond between the frame element and the skin panel.

In a spiral pipe adhesion method, when a spiral pipe used as a drainpipe or water conduit is bonded, adhesive resin having an I beam shape is improved to an H beam so that rigidity coefficient or annular rigidity coefficient is improved. Law material such as polyethylene is used to form a rectangular profile having empty or filled cavity. Resin is supplied by an auxiliary extruding apparatus to wrap the profile in an H beam shape to make the profiles adhere to each other. Thus, since the adhesive resin layer is formed in an H beam shape, the profile can bear the external pressure, impact and load and is not breakable and rigidity coefficient is drastically improved. Also, the life span of a product is economically extended and an aesthetic appearance can be obtained.

A spiral pipe using waste plastic, used as a drainpipe or water conduit, is formed by using materials such as waste plastic or waste film to fill the inside of a rectangular profile, supplying resin and adhesive resin through auxiliary extruding apparatuses at both sides of the profile to make the profile adhere to each other. The spiral pipe is formed by using materials such as various fillers such as waste plastic, agricultural by-product such as chaff and rice straw, forestry by-product such as sawdust and pieces of wood, or fly ash. A rectangular profile is formed by an extruding apparatus at a processing temperature of 180-250 °C. An adhesive resin layer is formed integrally with the profile at the outer side of the winder by the resin and adhesive resin supplied by the auxiliary extruding apparatuses at both sides or either side of the profile. The profile has a not melted inner layer and a melted outer layer and the adhesive resin layer wrapping around the outer surface of the profile is formed to have an H beam shape. Thus, the spiral pipe can bear well the external pressure and is not breakable. Also, waste plastic can be recycled as valuable resources.
