METHOD OF MAKING SHAPED COMPONENTS FOR DISPOSABLE ABSORBENT ARTICLES

Номер: CA0002465848A1

A method for formation of shaped components such as shaped absorbent cores, for disposable absorbent articles, contemplates that a relatively wide web of material be provided from which the components are cut. The web of material is longitudinally slit to form a plurality of subdivided webs each having shaped components arranged in serial relationship. The shaped components of adjacent ones of the subdivided webs are nested with each other, that is, a line extending longitudinally of the web extends through the components of adjacent subdivided webs. Efficient formation is facilitated by collecting the marginal portions of the web of material, and at least partially recycling the collected portions for formation of the wide web.

METHODS FOR MAKING PAPER OR BOARD, A BOARD TRAY AND PULP PARTICLES COATED WITH FOAMABLE POLYMER FOR USE IN THE SAME

Номер: CA0003009875A1
Принадлежит:

The invention concerns a method of manufacturing paper or board, the paper or board obtained by the method, and a method of producing a tray from the board. In a fibrous stock for papermaking is incorporated an amount of polymer coated fibrous particles, which even have a foaming agent such as moisture contained therein. A web is formed from the fibrous stock on a forming fabric of a paper or board machine, followed by pressing and drying to a finished paper or board. As the paper or board is sufficiently heated the foaming agent within the particles evaporates, causing expansion and foaming of the polymer coating, which adds to malleability of the board as it is moulded into a shaped article such as a board tray. The invention even covers production of doubly coated fibrous particles for use in said methods, the inner coating layer being of a foamable polymer with a higher melt flow rate and the outer coating layer being of a non-foaming polymer of a lower melt flow rate.

BIOFABRICATED MATERIAL CONTAINING COLLAGEN FIBRILS

Номер: US20190203000A1
Принадлежит: MODERN MEADOW, INC.

A biofabricated material containing a network of crosslinked collagen fibrils is disclosed. This material is composed of collagen which is also a major component of natural leather and is produced by a process of fibrillation of collagen molecules into fibrils, crosslinking the fibrils and lubricating the crosslinked fibrils. Unlike natural leathers, this biofabricated material exhibits non-anisotropic (not directionally dependent) physical properties, for example, a sheet of biofabricated material can have substantially the same elasticity or tensile strength when stretched or stressed in different directions. Unlike natural leather, it has a uniform texture that facilitates uniform uptake of dyes and coatings. Aesthetically, it produces a uniform and consistent grain for ease of manufacturability. It can have substantially identical grain, texture and other aesthetic properties on both sides distinct from natural leather where the grain increases from one side (e.g., distal surface) to the other (proximal inner layers). 1. A biofabricated material(i) comprising a network of non-human collagen fibrils, wherein less than 10% by weight of the collagen fibrils in the material are in the form of collagen fibers having a diameter of 5 μm or more, are in the form of fibrils aligned for 100 μm or more of their lengths, or both;wherein said material contains no more than 40% by weight water;wherein said material contains at least 1% of a lubricant; or(ii) comprising a network of recombinant non-human collagen fibrils, wherein the collagen contains substantially no 3-hydroxyproline;wherein said material contains no more than 25% by weight water;wherein said material contains at least 1% of a lubricant.215-. A flexible balsa wood panel for a rotor blade of a wind turbine, including a plurality of balsa wood modules and a polymer film which is attached to a surface of each balsa wood module to connect the balsa wood modules together is provided. The flexible balsa wood panel has the following advantages. An adhesion area of the polymer film is significantly larger than that of a glass fiber mesh. This in turn reduces the risk of balsa wood modules falling off during handling the flexible balsa wood panel. A polymer film with a high melting temperature relative to a maximum blade curing temperature can be selected in order to avoid curing process induced delaminations. Furthermore, due to the polymer film attached to the first surface, a more uniform adhesion may be achieved compared to a currently used glass fiber mesh.

The bath tissue has sufficient temporary wet strength resin to provide an initial Finch Cup cross-machine direction (CD) wet tensile of from about 2.5 to about 20 g/3 in. per pound of basis weight, decaying to less than 65% of the initial value in less than 15 minutes after immersion of the tissue in water, and a caliper of at least 5 mils per 8 sheets per pound of basis weight. At least one of the plies includes a plurality of fiber-enriched hollow domed regions having a relatively high basis weight, a plurality of connecting regions having a relatively lower basis weight forming a network interconnecting the fiber-enriched hollow domed regions of the sheet, and a plurality of transition regions transitioning from the connecting regions into the fiber-enriched hollow domed regions. 1.
