A structure for use in industrial fabrics such as paper machine clothing and engineered fabrics is disclosed. The structure includes one or more layers of an elastic nonwoven extruded film or sheet, which is elastic, resilient, and compressible in a thickness direction, and extensible, bendable, and resilient in its length and transverse directions, and one or more layers of a plurality of substantially parallel machine direction (MD) yarns in various patterns. The structure can also include one or more layers of a plurality of substantially parallel cross-machine direction (CD) yarns attached on top of or under the MD yarns. The structure has a high degree of both compressibility under an applied normal load and excellent recovery (resiliency or spring back) upon removal of that load.

The present invention provides for manufacturing processes of structuring fabrics that contain a web contacting layer with seams that do not cause defects in the sheet that can result in sheet breaks during the paper machine process. Structuring fabrics with a web contacting layer that can have damaged sections replaced rather than replacing the entire structuring fabric, which is costly and time consuming, are also provided. Additionally, a process for manufacturing the web contacting layer by laying down polymers of specific material properties in an additive manner under computer control (3-D printing) is provided. 1. La fonction de cette courroie est de constituer une surface qui se déplace avec le feutre lorsque ce dernier passe dans la zone de serrage d'une presse à zone de serrage étendue, pour abaisser ainsi la vitesse avec laquelle le feutre s'use par frottement. L'imperméabilité de la courroie garantit que le lubrifiant interposé entre la courroie et la surface du patin ne contaminera pas le feutre ni la feuille fibreuse.
