The alloy preferably consists of 63À25 per cent of aluminium, 24À52 per cent of zinc, 11À64 per cent of copper, 0À34 per cent of iron, and 0À04 per cent of silica.

Cylinder machines.-In order to decrease the size of the cylinders and the travel of the bed in cylinder printing machines, the sheets are first perfected on one half by two cylinders 7, 8 co-operating with formes 1, 1', 2, 2<1> on the bed 40, and are then perfected on the other half by cylinders 13, 16 and formes 3, 3<1>, 4, 4<1>. Suitable bed-reciprocating mechanism is provided, comprising segmental wheels 37, 38 turning in opposite directions and gearing alternately with a single rack 39 under the bed 40, the reversals being accomplished by means of cams 41', 42<1>, 43', 44<1> on the wheels 37, 38 engaging rollers 41, 42, 43, 44, respectively, on brackets 45, 46, 47, 48 fixed to the bed. If desired, the rollers might be fixed to the wheels 37, 38 and suitablyshaped cams attached to the bed. The sheets are carried through the machine along the path indicated, by tapes and grippers.

Tripping-arrangements; cylinder machines.- A continuous-revolution cylinder printing-machine is so constructed that the strain of impression is taken by the cross or centre stay of the machine framing on which the bed runs, and not by the side frames, which are bolted to the cross-stay. The tripping-mechanism employed consists of toggle levers so arranged as to bring the impression cylinder into operative position against the action of springs; the toggles bear against projections on the crossstay and so transmit the impression strain to this stay. The impression cylinder 6 is supported at each end by a side rod 9, guided in a side frame 1, and held in place by plates 14, 17. A cross-stay 2, Fig. 5, is secured by bolts 10 to the side frames 1, and at each end of the stay 2 is a protruding abutment 13 which passes through the frame 1 and rod 9, the rod 9 being formed with an aperture 15 long enough to permit the rising and falling movements of the rod. The cylinder is normally kept out of printing position by means of adjustable springs 33- which bear on a rib 34 on the rod 9 and on a plate 23 secured to the abutment 13. The cylinder is brought into printing position by a toggle mechanism arranged between the abutment 13 and the lower end 16 of the rod 9. This mechanism comprises an upper member 21, which is pivoted to a bolt 22 passed through the plate 23, and is received by a socket in a member 20 secured by bolts 19 to the abutment 13; and a lower member 25 received in a suitable aperture in a plate 27 bolted to the rod 9. For taking-up wear &c., an apertured plate 29, adjustable by means of a wedge-shaped member 31 which is adjustable by screws, is arranged between the toggle member 25 and the end of the rod 9. L'invention concerne un dispositif permettant de presser le papier sur la plaque gravée, avec un outil intermédiaire ajouté à une presse à cylindres. Le dispositif selon l'invention est pour l'essentiel composé d'un arc de cylindre de diamètre plusieurs fois plus grand que le diamètre du cylindre supérieur, il augmente la largeur pressée avec la presse à cylindres, ce qui améliore la qualité de l'estampe. Cet arc de cylindre que l'on peut appeler « berceau flottant » n'est pas articulé autour d'un axe fixe, il « roule » sur le papier en étant placé entre le cylindre supérieur et le papier. Le grand diamètre du « berceau flottant » permet d'aborder puis de rouler sur une plaque épaisse, en particulier une xylographie ou une linogravure ; il permet aussi de presser un objet en relief posé sur le marbre pour obtenir un « gaufrage » du papier. Le « berceau flottant » peut être utilisé seul avec une presse traditionnelle.

Printing-surfaces. - Printing-plates are secured to printing-cylinders by means of longitudinally-movable dogs carried by screws provided with pinions geared to a central pinion, which can be displaced longitudinally by a central screw of coarse pitch, carrying the screws and dogs bodily with it, and, when this coarse adjustment is arrested, the continued rotation of the central screw rotates the central pinion and also the dog screws, and thereby the dogs receive their final clamping adjustment. As shown, the printing-plate is secured by a clip ring e, Figs. 1 and 3, formed with feathers f sliding in guides g and carried by dogs d operated by screws n which engage threaded apertures in the dogs, and are secured to a ring k which is secured by a nut l so as to move with a spur-wheel j which is in mesh with pinions o on the screws n. The spur-wheel is adapted to be given a rapid axial movement by a quick screw h, and when a boss on the wheel engages a fixed plate p, further rotation of the screw h turns the wheel j and thus rotates the screws n, which arc thus given a fine adjustment to tighten the plates. The screws n and dogs d participate in the quick axial movement of the wheel j.

The wheel e is driven continuously by wheels b, d and gears with a wide wheel f fixed on the shaft of the cylinder c<1>, and this wheel f drives hack on a wheel g fixed to the shaft h of the cylinder c.

Delivery-apparatus.-A continuous-revolution cylinder machine is constructed with two impression cylinders, one fed from below and the other from above, and so arranged that the sheets are brought to the same printing edge of the forme, whereby similar sheets from the maximum size down to the smallest can be printed on the two cylinders. A sheet on each cylinder is printed in the travel of the bed in one direction. The delivery of the sheets from the cylinders is assisted by wheels in contact with the cylinders. The printed sheets are delivered by reciprocating chains h<1>, j<1> from which they are taken by ordinary delivery tapes and deposited on to tables k<1>, m<1>. The delivery of the sheets from the cylinders is assisted bv rollers p<1>, q<1> comprising laterally adjustable rubber disks mounted on shafts as q<2>, Fig. 4, adjustable to and from the impression cylinders by means of bolts and nuts q<3>. The chains h', j' are mounted on wheels driven by racks reciprocated by cam-mechanism.

본 발명은 회전 엠보싱 및 금박 인쇄장치에 관한 것으로서, 특히 금박 다이에 의해 인쇄가 이루질 때에만 금박 포일이 이동되도록 구성되어 간단한 구성으로도 금박 인쇄가 가능할 뿐만 아니라 금박 포일을 절약할 수 있는 회전 엠보싱 및 금박 인쇄장치에 관한 것이다. 상기한 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명에 의한 회전 엠보싱 및 금박 인쇄장치는 감겨진 포일이 모터의 구동력에 의해 풀려 나오는 스토리지 릴과, 상기 스토리지 릴로부터 풀리는 포일이 자중에 의해 늘어지는 어큐뮬레이터 존과, 상기 어큐뮬레이터 존의 일정 높이에 설치되고 상기 압력제공수단의 동작이 제어되도록 늘어진 포일의 높이를 감지하여 신호를 출력하는 센서와, 상기 어큐뮬레이터 존의 늘어진 다른 한쪽이 경유하고 표면에 밀착되도록 진공압이 걸리는 구멍이 형성된 진공샤프트와, 상기 진공샤프트를 경유한 포일이 통과되면서 인쇄가 이루어지고 한쪽에 돌출된 금박 다이가 설치된 금박 실린더와, 상기 금박 실린더와 함께 금박 인쇄하게 되는 임프레션 실린더와, 상기 실린더들을 경유하여 인쇄가 이루어진 포일이 모터의 구동력에 의해 감기는 와인딩 릴로 구성된다. 엠보싱, 금박 인쇄, 진공, 포일
