1428073 Transfer printing inks BAYER AG 17 May 1974 [18 May 1973] 22020/74 Heading D1B Printing inks used in the preparation of temporary supports for transfer printing on textile material capable of being dyed with a basic dye contain (a) a carbinol base of a cationic dye which can be sublimed at 160‹- 240‹C being of general formula: in which A, B and D independantly represent an aryl or heterocyclic radical, or B denotes a hydrogen atom or B and/or M conjointly with A and E in combination with D respectively forms the remaining members of a heterocyclic ring system, E is a direct bond or a =N-alkyl group, L is a metaine group which is optionally substituted by an alkyl, cyano or alkoxycarbonyl group or represents a nitrogen atom, m is 0 or 1, M has the same meaning as L (b) an anhydrous neutral organic solvent, and (c) a neutral resin which is soluble in the solvent. The preferred solvents are unsubstituted hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, ether or esters. Substrates which may be printed are polyacrylonitrile, acid-modified polyesters and polyamides. The resin may be a ketone resin or a cellulose ether.

Permanent direct-positive copies of an original are made using a high-intensity light flash by reflex exposure through a coloured copying-material which comprises a transparent support, with a transparency of at least 70% for the visible printing light, carrying a layer having a density of between 0.2 and 0À8 for visible light and containing between 0.01 and 1% by weight of a material capable of absorbing light and converting it into heat energy dispersed in a film-forming binder which decomposes at 100 to 220‹C. The regions of the copying-material corresponding to the non- image or highly reflecting areas of the original receive a greater exposure than those corresponding to the image or light-absorbing areas and their colour is eliminated or reduced probably by bubbleformation in the binder. Gas-producing compounds such as diazo compound, diazonium salts, azides, pyrrole carboxylic acid or nitrosamines may also be present in the copying layer. Lightabsorbing materials in the copying layer may be finely-divided silver, bismuth, lead, iron, cobalt or nickel, carbon black, graphite, manganese oxide, lead sulphide, azo dyes. formazane dyes. cyanine dyes, triphenyl- or diphenylmethyl methane dyes and indigoid dyes. Binders are carboxymethyl-cellulose, polyvinyl alcohol, polyacrylamide, salts and esters of alginic acid, carrageenates and proteins such as gelatine. The support may be of transparent paper, cellulose esters, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonates and polyesters. The high-intensity light flash source is an electronic photo-flash tube.

A process for increasing a degree of whiteness of paper pulp may include bring paper fiber pulp, which may at least partially include printed waste paper, into a suspension with water. The suspension may be mixed with bleaching aids and bleaching chemicals. The bleaching chemicals may preferably contain molecular oxygen. Intensely mechanically treating the pulp, e.g., at at least 20 kWh/to, prior to bleaching the pulp suspension. The bleaching period may take at least 10 minutes, with a pressure above the atmospheric pressure being exerted during the bleaching. After bleaching, a major portion of remaining color print particles may be removed from the bleached pulp.
