Dieser Steuerhebel (35) und das Führungsteil (38) bilden ein Arretiermittel, welches derart ausgebildet ist, dass es ausser in der gekuppelten Position in jeder gelösten Stellung ein Arretieren des Steuerhebels (35) beim Führungsteil (38) und damit der Einrichtung (30) des jeweiligen Kupplungskopfs bewirkt. Mit ihr kann somit ein sicheres Kuppeln bzw. Entkuppeln bei allen Betriebsszenarien gewährleistet werden.

Diese die Zugstange (1) lagernde Platte (5) ist am Stützflansch (3) gehalten und sie ist an ihrem Aussenumfang gegenüberliegend mit je einer Tragscheibe (10, 11) in jeweils einer Öffnung (8', 9') des Stützflansches (3) durch nebeneinander angeordnete Überlastelemente (14a, 14b) verbunden. Diese Überlastelemente (14a, 14b) sind bei einer Überbelastung in Druck- oder Zugrichtung der Zugstange (1) abscherbar. Damit ist zwischen dem Stützflansch und der Platte eine sichere Verbindung gebildet, die bei einem Crash bzw. bei einer Überbelastung funktionssicher lösbar ist, jedoch im Normalbetrieb eine einwandfreie Anlenkung sicherstellt.

The pivotal bar 14 of the link 16 passes through the hollow head of the pin and carries a cam 15 which moves the cone 20 longitudinally on rotation of the link to shoot the bolts 18 into a. recess 21 in the shackle. Opposite corners of the cam may be rounded to permit the link passing its dead-centre in the locking position, or a spring-pressed plunger may contact with the cam to retain it in the locked position.

The keeper 3 is subsequently retained in the locked position by gravity. The hook may be integral with the draw-bar or secured thereto by riveting &c., and is disposed horizontally. The pins 2 may be on the keeper engaging a reversed slot in the hook member.

The plate bears the drawbar and is held on the support flange and connected at its outer circumference in each case with a carrier disk, each in an opening of the support flange, by overload elements arranged adjacent to one another. The overload elements are sheared off in the event of an overload in the pressure or tension direction of the drawbar. The system includes one or more sensors mounted to or integrated with the train coupler, a data acquisition unit for receiving signal or data from the sensors, and a processing unit for determining the train coupler's structural health based on the received signal or data. Inspections via the system can be performed in real time continuously or periodically while a train is in service. It can also be performed offline while a train is not in service. Inspection method can be either passive, where sensors collect signals without generating excitation signals to the structure, or active, where some sensors are used as actuators to actively send excitation signals to the structure and other sensors or the actuators themselves collect the structural response signals. The data acquisition unit receives signals or data from sensors. The processing unit processes sensor data acquired by the data acquisition unit and determines if there are structural changes or damages.

A cable connects the signal unit to a radio mounted on the railway car. An actuator in the pressure indicator moves when sufficient hydraulic fluid is lost from the cushioning device to impair the ability of the device to cushion shocks. Movement of the actuator operates a switch or load cell in the assembly to send a signal through the cable to the radio which then broad-casts a signal indicating that the cushioning unit is inoperative. The signal unit is removably mounted on the pressure indicator to permit shipment of the cushioning unit without the relatively delicate signal unit and permit mounting of the signal unit, cable and radio on the railway car.
