Die beiden Gabelscheiden (12a, 12b) des Gabelkopfs (1) weisen eine durchgehende Bohrung (15) zur Aufnahme eines Bolzens auf. Der Bolzen dient dem drehbaren Abstützen eines Zughakens am Gabelkopf (1). Die jeweilige Gabelscheide (12a, 12b) ist auf der Innenseite in dem die Bohrung (15) umgebenden Bereich mit einer Ausnehmung (17a, 17b) versehen. Zwischen dieser Ausnehmung (17a) und der Bohrung (15) verläuft eine kreisringförmige Erhebung (18a, 18b). Durch diese Gestaltung wird erreicht, dass sich unter Zugbelastung die Wandung der jeweiligen Gabelscheide (12a) dem Bolzen elastisch anpasst, so dass eine gleichmässige Krafteinleitung vom Bolzen auf die Gabelscheide (12a, 12b) stattfindet.

The present invention relates to a holder for mounting a second part on a main structure between car body ends of a rail vehicle, comprising —a first holding structure having a first contact surface, the first holding structure being configured to be attached to a main structure; —a second holding structure having a second contact surface, the second holding structure being configured to be attached to a second part, and the second holding structure further being arranged to be mounted on the first holding structure with one of the first and second contact surfaces resting on the other; —a fastening device for fastening the second holding structure to the first holding structure to form a mounted state, the first and second contact surfaces being pressed against each other in the mounted state, and wherein the first and second contact surfaces in the mounted state each extend at a first angle in relation to a horizontal axis, said first angle (α) being more than 1 degree and less than 30 degrees, and wherein the fastening device ( 53 ) extends in a direction parallel to or coinciding with the horizontal axis (A).

A railway vehicle coupler yoke , comprising:(a) a head portion at one end having a first wall and a second wall defining a front opening therebetween;(b) a rear portion;(c) two elongated strap portions, the strap portions spanning from the head portion to the rear portion, said rear portion joining said strap portions; and(d) a central pocket with two open sides formed by said two elongated strap portions.2. The railway vehicle coupler yoke of claim 1 , wherein each strap portion has at least one opening therein.3. The railway vehicle coupler yoke of claim 1 , wherein each strap portion has at least one opening therein claim 1 , and wherein each said opening provided in one strap portion opposes the opening provided in the other strap portion.4. The present invention provides a lightweight draft sill end casting for use with railroad cars. The cast draft sill has side walls, front and rear stops, front and rear rib sets and a center plate that are cast as a unit. The draft sill has an open area between the tops of the side walls between the front and rear stops, with a cast metal span connecting the two side walls. The cast metal span may comprise one or more spacer bars or part of a top wall. The cast metal span is in the area between the planes of the front stops and the rear stops. The front and rear stops are spaced below the tops of the side walls. In one embodiment, there are additional lightener holes in each side wall between the ribs in the rear rib set and in the pocket. The total weight of the cast draft sill is not substantially greater than the weight of a comparable fabricated draft sill of substantially the same size, and has a greater fatigue life. The total open area connecting the interior and the exterior of the draft sill between the front stop plane and the rear stop plane is at least 130 square inches.

A draft gear assembly is disclosed alone and in combination with a draft sill and a coupler. The draft sill has front and rear stops defining a draft gear pocket. The draft gear assembly has a yoke, a coupler follower, a rear follower, a front resilient member and a back resilient member. The yoke has top and bottom stops. The coupler follower is biased against the yoke top and bottom stops. The draft gear assembly also includes a center rod that extends through the yoke, through the back resilient member and through the rear follower. Prior to installation on a railcar, there is a shortening member on the center rod. The length of the assembly between the shortening member and the front of the coupler follower is slightly less than the longitudinal length of the draft gear pocket. After installation, the rear follower is positioned against rear stops of the draft sill. After installation, the yoke, coupler and coupler follower each have a neutral position and a full buff position. The yoke and coupler also have a full draft position. The draft stroke of the coupler and yoke is 1¼ inches forward. The buff stroke of the coupler and coupler follower is at least 4¼ inches rearward, while the buff stroke of the yoke is 3 inches rearward. The center rod is free from compression throughout buff movement and free from tension throughout draft movement of the coupler and yoke.
