Steering wheel 110 may be readily removed by emergency services in the event of a collision, allowing a trapped driver to be freed, and engagement element 140 may have a knob 190 allowing rapid manual removal.

The adaptor includes a cylindrical portion into which the steering shaft is inserted and a yoke formed integrally with the cylindrical portion for holding the steering shaft. The yoke has flexible ends constituting a pair of clamping pieces. One of the clamping pieces is provided with a bolt hole while the other is provided with a through hole. A bolt is inserted through the through hole and then screwed into the bolt hole for holding the steering shaft with the yoke. A lower cover, which is made from a synthetic resin, surrounds the steering shaft and covers a lower part of the steering wheel. A holder is provided in the lower cover for supporting the bolt in a ready position to prevent the bolt from falling off the yoke. The bolt is accessible from the side of the steering wheel.

A delay unit for use in a steering wheel system, the steering wheel system having a steering wheel and a horn actuated by a tactile input configured to provide electric power to a semiconductor switch electrically coupled to the horn. The delay unit includes a semiconductor switch and a time charging unit connected in parallel with the semiconductor unit. The time charging unit is configured to hold a predetermined amount of electric power before electrically connecting the electric power to the semiconductor switch. As such, the time charging unit generates a delay in the transmission of electric power to the semiconductor switch so as to prevent the horn from being actuated when the steering wheel is mounted onto the steering column. 1. A delay unit for use in a steering wheel system , the steering wheel system having a steering wheel and a horn actuated by a tactile input configured to provide an electric power to the horn , the delay unit comprising:a semiconductor switch and a time charging unit connected in parallel with the semiconductor switch, the time charging unit configured to hold a predetermined amount of electric power before electrically connecting the electric power to the semiconductor switch so as to generate a delay in a transmission of the electric power to the semiconductor switch.2. The delay unit as set forth in claim 1 , wherein the delay is no longer than 15 milliseconds.3. Since the elastic body is formed from a support pin itself, which supports the airbag module on the frame of the steering wheel, compared with a case in which the support pin and the elastic body are formed from separate members, it is possible to reduce the number of components and the number of assembly steps. A part of the support pin may form the elastic body, and the entirety of the support pin may form the elastic body.

A steering wheel assembly includes a steering wheel and an airbag module. The steering wheel includes a hub portion that has a hook member and a first bracket opposed to the hook member and having an access hole. The airbag module is pivotably attached to the hub portion of the steering wheel and includes a latch member and a second bracket opposed to the latch member and having an access hole. The latch member is pivotably attached to the hook member, and the first bracket and the second bracket overlap with each other such that the access holes form a port that receives a fastener. 1. The steering wheel assembly of claim 3 , wherein the first bracket and the second bracket each define an access hole that forms a port for receiving another fastener to further attach the airbag module to the steering wheel.5. A system and method automatically adjusts a driver's steering experience based upon driving conditions, including turns and terrain. In accordance with one embodiment, the steering wheel essentially bends into the turn and advances towards the driver, thereby providing a more natural and enjoyable driving experience. The system comprises one or more sensors disposed within the vehicle to measure g-forces. A processor in the vehicle, receiving the signals from the sensors, sends control signals to the steering wheel in response to the signals received. An electromechanical system physically moves the steering wheel relative to a driver of the vehicle in response to the control signals received from the processor. Systems and methods for human scanning for interior preference setup are disclosed. An example disclosed vehicle includes a target lamp on a side view mirror of the vehicle. The example vehicle also includes a scanning module. Additionally, the example vehicle includes an active scanning system configured to instruct the target lamp to project a position indicator a known distance from the vehicle, determine a joint structure based on an image of a person standing at the position indicator received from the scanning module, and adjust interior preference settings based on the detected joint structure. 1. A vehicle comprising:a target lamp coupled to the vehicle; and instruct the target lamp to project a position indicator a known distance from the vehicle;', 'determine a joint structure based on an image of a person at the position indicator; and', 'adjust at least one of a seat position, a steering column position, and a pedal position based on the detected joint structure., 'an active scanning control unit configured to, via a processor2. The vehicle of claim 1 , wherein the active scanning control unit is configured to:detect, via a scanning module, the person standing a the position indicator; andin response to detecting the person, instructing the target lamp to provide feedback.3. A steering control device includes a steering wheel configured to allow a traveling direction of a vehicle to be adjusted depending on performed turning operation, an input operation unit disposed in a center region of the steering wheel and configured to receive input operation by an operator, a switching unit connected to the steering wheel and the input operation unit and configured to switch a turn of the steering wheel between a turn of the steering wheel together with the input operation unit and a turn of only the steering wheel, and a controller configured to control the switching unit such that only the steering wheel turns in accordance with an input of an input signal indicating a start of a self-driving mode in which a turn of the steering wheel is controlled.

The present disclosure relates to a foamed steering wheel for an automotive vehicle and is intended for an especially advantageous manufacturing process of said steering wheel. For this purpose, it is suggested that in the area of the foamed edge the foam wrapping is adjacent to a skeleton projection of the steering wheel skeleton and to a cover projection of the skeleton cover, wherein the skeleton projection and the cover projection are directly adjacent to each other and together form a substantially circumferentially closed wall projection for contacting a foaming mold. 1. A steering wheel for an automotive vehicle , comprisinga steering wheel axis,a hub for fastening the steering wheel to a steering shaft rotatable about the steering wheel axis, as well asa steering wheel rim which includes a steering wheel skeleton and a skeleton cover, is connected to the hub by a spoke and at least in portions surrounds the hub in the circumferential direction,wherein the steering wheel skeleton and the skeleton cover are partially enclosed by a foam wrapping and protrude from the foam wrapping at a foamed edge,wherein the foam wrapping is adjacent to a skeleton projection of the steering wheel skeleton and to a cover projection of the skeleton cover in the area of the foamed edge,wherein the skeleton projection and the cover projection are directly adjacent to each other and together form a substantially circumferentially closed wall projection for contacting a foaming mold.2.
