In running conditions and when the wheels are laterally deviated in a normal working zone, the output of the emergency pump (4) towards the servo-steering is enough so that the pump (3) remains in its neutral position. When a large volume of oil is required for example to take narrow curves at low speeds, the resulting decrease of the pressure difference between the conduit (10) and the steering conduit (26) brings the moving member of the pump (3) to a pumping position. The pump (3) is thus used to complete the oil flow rate. When the pressure difference increases again, it is applied through a control conduit (28) from a distribution valve (27) and the steering conduit (26) to the moving member of the pump (3). The moving member of the pump (3) therefore returns to its neutral position.
