A strap and retainer for a diver's mask, or other mask to be held on a user's face. The retainer is comprised in part of a molded portion of the frame of the mask with a movable clip portion therein which is pivotally mounted. Secured to the diver's body, for example, to his helmet, are equipment housings for cameras, electric lights, magnetometers, or other instruments. Conduits connect these instrument housings to the atmosphere breathed by the diver so that they are pressurized at approximately the hydrostatic pressure, that would otherwise crush them. Not only can the housings be lightly constructed, because of this absence of crushing forces, but the conduit connections are short and close to the diver's body so that they will not become entangled as the diver works. To eliminate foggy water molecules on the diving mask, medicine agent and infiltration potion are sprayed on the diving mask. Alternatively, saliva is coated on the diving mask. A water survival mask that seals to the user's face covering the nose and mouth and preventing the unwanted inhalation of water. The mask lets air in through slots located at the bottom of the mask that also allow water to drain out. Once through the slots, water is prevented from entering the mask by a water impermeable barrier that selectively allows for air and not water to be inhaled, which may be a float valve. If water penetrates through the water impermeable barrier it is caught by splash guards and funneled back out of the mask before it can enter the primary airway of the user. The water survival mask works exceptionally well at preventing inhalation of windblown water droplets or wave water when floating in rough waters, thereby preventing pulmonary aspiration and pulmonary edema. It also prevents immediate inhalation of water do to submersion in cold water. 1. A facial cushion for a goggle may have a plurality of layers which provide cushioning, cooling and ergonomic fit functions. The top layer which contacts the wearer's face may have an embossed pattern which creates an air space between the wearer's face and the top layer for providing a cooling function. The embossed top layer also increases the total surface area of the top layer thereby increasing its wicking ability and reduces the total skin contact surface area of the top layer reducing heat. Additionally, the cushion may be thicker at left and right end portions to maintain contact with the wearer's face despite pulling of the left and right ends of the goggle when the goggle is worn with a helmet.

A secondary corrective lens can, however, be affixed to the planar inner surface of the lens for those divers who would otherwise require corrective lenses. The lens is optionally treated to inhibit fogging, to reduce the amount of light reflected off the lens, to provide enhanced contrast imaging, and to protect divers from dangerous underwater radiation emissions.
