Способ периферийного этикетирования емкостей, в частности кругового этикетирования бутылок, заключается в том, что запечатывают бесконечную этикеточную ленту, после чего соответствующую этикетку отрезают по размеру и оборачивают вокруг емкости, по меньшей мере, на части ее периферии. При этом периферию и/или высоту, по меньшей мере, одной этикетируемой емкости определяют посредством, по меньшей мере, одного сенсорного устройства, после чего соответствующую этикетку отрезают на согласованную с данной емкостью длину. Details of the marking are stored in a high capacity memory store. When it is desired to monitor the article, a pictorial image of the marking is sent from the location of the article to a remote computer ( 37 ) via a wide area communications network, such as a mobile telephone network ( 50 ). Details concerning the location of the article are also transmitted to the remote computer, which is programmed, to extract the coded data from the transmitted image file, and evaluate whether the coded data matches coded data stored in the high capacity memory store. A sealing device for packages comprising: a control unit , a sealing station , an unwinder for a film web , a cutting device provided upstream of the sealing station and configured for producing film sections of the film web , a film feed device for feeding the film sections to the sealing station , a conveying device for conveying packages into the sealing station , the sealing station comprising upper and lower sealing elements , which are configured for clamping the package and the film section in common between the lower and upper sealing elements and for sealing the film section onto the package , wherein the upper and lower sealing elements are adapted to be synchronously moved along with the continuously moving package during the sealing process.2. A printer prints label data on a self-adhesive label that has a tabbed backing to produce a printed label on the tabbed backing. Also, a label feeder is positioned relative to the printer to transport the printed label on the tabbed backing away from the printer. A label applicator is positioned, relative to the feeder, to remove the printed label on the tabbed backing from the feeder. The tabbed backing includes a first section, covering an adhesive area of the printed label, and a tab extending from the first section. The label applicator includes a holder, that is shaped to grasp the tab of the tabbed backing, and a moveable element that is configured to remove the printed label from the tabbed backing and affix the adhesive area of the printed label to an item. 1. A label applicator comprising:a moveable element positioned to remove a printed label on tabbed backing from a feeder; anda holder comprising grasping elements shaped to grasp a tab of the tabbed backing between the grasping elements,wherein the tabbed backing includes a first section, covering an adhesive area of the printed label,wherein the tab extends from the first section, andwherein the moveable element is positioned to remove the printed label from the tabbed backing while the tab is grasped by the holder.2. The label applicator according to claim 1 , wherein the moveable element comprises an articulated member and a contact element connected to the articulated member claim 1 , and wherein the contact element is configured to grasp the printed label.3. A portable test tube labeling device provides labeling and tracking of test tubes used in patient care. The device includes a chute extending through a housing. A barrel extending across the chute is rotatable within the housing. Spacers are coupled to the barrel defining a plurality of channels extending along the barrel and receiving one of the test tubes as the barrel is rotated. A printing head and spool assembly are positioned in the housing. A tape is coupled to the spool assembly passing adjacent to the printing head wherein indicia is printable on labels on the tape. As the barrel is rotated, each label is extended from the tape and delivered onto the test tube in each channel. A collar is coupled to the barrel for retaining each of the test tubes in one of the channels between the collar and a base end of the barrel.
