The proofing air jet according to claim 1 , further comprising a valve connected to the pressurized air inlet configured to control flow of pressurized air through the pressurized air inlet.3. The proofing air jet according to claim 1 , wherein the air outlet opposes the suction inlet.4. The proofing air jet according to claim 1 , wherein an angle between the hollow elongated body and the pressurized air inlet is about 80° to about 20°.5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein at least deviation sensing unit is provided in a measurement unit arranged to move in cross direction to the movement of the cardboard or paper web.3. A machine for winding a continually running thread (19) has a mounted rotating spindle for winding the thread on a reel (17). A rotating contact roller (1), supported by a carrier (3) bearing (2), lies on the reel surface (18) with a preset force which can be adjusted by a controllable actuator (4). The bearing is made to be elastic and a sensor (5) on the carrier or the contact roller is so arranged that it detects relative movement in the bearing between contact roller and carrier. The actuator is under control of a controller (6) to which the sensor is connected, in such a way that a desired applied force profile for the roller is achieved. Also claimed is a process for regulation of the applied force where: (a) the relative movement between bearing and applied roller is detected; (b) a signal corresp. to this movement is sent to the controller; an actual bearing position derived from the relative movement is compared with a preset value in the controller and; (c) the actuator is adjusted via the controller to follow the desired force profile. Pref. the sensor is a displacement transducer, i.e. the distance between the opening of a nozzle directing an air stream against a reaction plate and the plate and the resulting varying air pressure is taken as a measure of the application force. Alternatively the sensor is a set of strain gauge foils fixed to the contact roller. The actuator is a piston-cylinder unit which is adjusted by the controller via the control valve (7). Alternatively the unit is adjusted via a pair of two-way valves. An alternative sensor is a transducer which detects the pressure in the unit cylinder and this pressure serves as a measure of the applied force. A wheel C carried by a pivoted arm is responsive to the tension and either moves the roller T radially across a drive pulley, or makes relative adjustment of the yarn and a conical roller T. The position of the roller T may be controlled by a fluidic switching circuit, Figure 4. The position of roller T is controlled by a pneumatic piston-cylinder arrangement V controlled by outputs 5, 6 of a monostable switch EM. The pressure input 4 is switched by a control line 7. The arm 10 on which the wheel C is carried, has a blade E which controls the output of a nozzle Tu which is applied to the, line 7. The pressure variation of the output as a function of the yarn tension is controlled by bellows S 1 , S 2 responsive to movement of the arm 10. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 5 not shown) two outlets of a fluidic device controlling piston-cylinder V are controlled by a piston arrangement. Movement of the piston is controlled by the arm 10 and bellows S 1 , S 2 via pneumatic diaphragm or piston.

A packaging machine (10) that uses cylinders to automatically adjust the pressure gradient on a web feed roller system is presented. The cylinders (106,108) are controlled by an air operated or an electrical sensing device that senses the edge of the web (14). When the sensor (104) detects the web (14) rising it will increase the pressure on bottom of the feed rollers (44) and lower the pressure at the top. This action drives the web down. When the web falls below the proper height the reverse happens and the web is driven back up. This system creates a seeking process that is always driving the web to the correct height. The system can also be used on a pivoting feed roller system. The sensor feedback turns an eccentric that changes the pressure gradient, moving the web to the proper height.
