The stacking mechanism at the discharge end of a plastics bag making machine advances the bags (10) from welding bars (21,22) and cutting blade so that a line of spikes (24) pass through their perforations to form a stack. Each successive bag is advanced by a horizontal cage (32) rotating above the outer end of the stack. This consists of parallel rods (29) between two end plates, rotated by a motor (33) at one end. This can operate at a different speed from that of the travel of the bag during travel from the machine to the finish of the stacking operation. The rods can be made of flexible material, and the cage can rotate at about 70 r.p.m. The cage moves to and fro on horizontal rails (25) each side of the stack.

An apparatus for dispensing plastic bags is disclosed. The apparatus includes a dispensing rack having a base, opposing sides, and a front portion. The opposing sides include tracks that accommodate a spindle capable of being inserted through a core of a roll of plastic bags and into the tracks such that the roll of plastic bags is seated in the dispenser rack and rotatable with respect to the spindle. The front portion of the dispensing rack is formed with a tongue which engages with a slit between bags on a roll and causes a bag to separate along a perforation. The front portion of the dispensing rack may also be formed with wedges which angle downward from the sides of the dispensing rack toward a lower portion of the tongue. When a bag is detached, the wedges catch the next bag and hold the next bag in place.

The drive means ( 20, 30 ) are distant from each other so as to define the passage zone ( 40 ), and the retaining means ( 24, 34 ) are suitable for exerting substantially transverse forces in opposite directions, so as to suck at least one article against corresponding drive means. The invention also relates to a method of controlling the above-mentioned separator device ( 18 ), and to a postal sorting machine including such a separator device ( 18 ).

Empty, flat folded storage bags which may be valve bags are prepared for filling with a flowable material, by seating and stacking a plurality of the bags on a fixed elevation base within a chamber of a bag holding magazine assembly, the resulting stack defining an initial stack rising from a lowermost one the bags on the base to an uppermost one of the bags. In a first cycle of operation, all but the lowermost bag is raised away from the base, the raised bags defining a depleted stack of bags. Then, while the depleted stack remains raised, the lowermost bag is removed from the chamber through a chamber outlet opening. Then, the depleted stack is lowered to seat a new lowermost bag on the base to complete first cycle. The cycle is repeated for each lowermost bag. Each bag removed from the magazine chamber may be conveyed to a bag pick-up position located away from the magazine assembly and, from there, automatically picked with a carrying tool located at the end of a robotic arm and transported to a bag filling station for filling with the flowable material. In the case of valve bags, the valve may be opened by the carrying tool at the time of pick-up.

The alignment transfer rail receives the group of the printed unit blocks dropped in response to move of the supporting element to the releasing position, aligns the printed unit blocks in each line unit block in a vertical direction, and feeds the printed unit blocks vertically at a constant speed using alignment transferring element. An electrical controlling element is provided that electrically controls timing of dropping the printed unit blocks from the supporting element onto the alignment transfer rail. While a speed of transfer of the horizontal feeding and transferring element are uniform for any imposition structure, the electrical controlling element controls timing of dropping the printed unit blocks in a manner that depends on the numbers of layers in each vertical line in different imposition structures. 1. Personalized printed products are produced in which at least one individually printed sheet is combined with conventionally printed sheets. A plurality of stacks of conventionally printed sheets are made available. Systems, devices and methods for receiving an item in a receptacle are disclosed. Features are disclosed for receiving and guiding an item in a receiving space of a receptacle so as to attenuate or remove the impact force of the item on the receptacle. Some embodiments of the disclosure include a bumper having an impact surface which absorbs most or all of the impact force of the item and thereby mitigates or removes the imposition of cyclic impact loads on the receptacle from repeated receipt of items. The bumper may be structurally and/or functionally de-coupled or otherwise physically separated from the receptacle such that an advantageous division of labor is created between absorbing the impact and receiving the item. This disclosure may be useful, for example, in modern industrial operations where a high volume of items are received daily, such as in mail sorting and handling operations.
