The present invention is a cork removal tool and cork ejector. The big effort required is reduced by incorporating a battery powered reversible DC electric motor. It allows the extraction of the cork from a bottle and its ejection from the tool with a single hand, with minimal effort on the part of the user, holding the cork remover and bottle together to open the bottle and only the opener itself to eject the cork from the latter. Binding of the opener is avoided by an opposing double ratcheted nut assembly which in conjunction with a micro switch protects the opener from binding due to a wrongly pressed switch and allows the screw to penetrate the cork and to remove it from the bottle and then from the opener smoothly. The single hand operation enables operators who only have use of one hand to open a bottle of wine.

A device for extracting a cork from a bottle. The device leverages an axial and rotational pulling force, and pressurized gas in the interior of the bottle to displace a cork from a bottle. The device provides a helical-shaped lever that axially and rotatably penetrates through the cork to forcibly extract the cork from the bottle neck. The helical-shaped lever has a hollow passageway that is in communication with the interior volume of the bottle. A self-centering and self-gripping corkscrew is provided. A centering and locking mechanism is integrated into the bottle receiving opening of the corkscrew such that in one downward motion a bottleneck is securely gripped and automatically centered under the cork removing device (e.g., a worm screw). The centering and gripping mechanism is spring biased downward and utilizes compression techniques configured into an outer mechanism (contained within the bottle receiving opening of corkscrew) and the body of the corkscrew to simultaneously grip and align the bottle with the axis of the cork removing device. An improved cork removal device that reduces the pressure differential created when a cork is extracted. The device provides for the passage of air from outside of the bottle through the cork, through a passageway in an elongated rod extending from the handle. The elongated rod has openings at a distal end and near the handle, connected with a passageway. This means that when the elongated rod of the cork removal device is inserted into a cork which is sealing a wine bottle, air is free to pass from one opening through the passageway to the other opening. The passage of air when the cork is being extracted, prevents a pressure differential from preventing the cork from extraction, and reduces breakage of the cork. A small flange or expansion at the tip of the corkscrew may be provided to protect the distal end opening from being clogged by cork debris.

The present invention is a radical departure from the traditional corkscrew apparatus. The opener generally consists of the handle and an internally threaded half-pipe. The half-pipe slides between the cork and the bottle, wherein the series of threads engage the cork. Rotating the handle causes the threads to bore deeper into the neck of the bottle until the handles meets the lip of the bottle, and then lift the cork out of the bottle until it disengages and falls away from the opener.
