The sealing ball and sealing element are located within the channel. When a leak is present, the sealing ball is moved from its resting position. Once the leak reaches a predetermined level, the sealing ball is pressed against the sealing element by the force of the gas in the chamber. This seals the chamber and prevents further gas flow through the system.

The present invention relates to a refillable keg assembly for use in dispensing beverages, in particular beer. The keg assembly comprises an outer shell, and a collapsible container for holding the beverage, positionable within the outer shell. A sealed cavity is defined between the outer shell and the collapsible container. A beverage outlet from the collapsible container enables beer to be dispensed from the keg assembly, and a gas valve allows gas to enter the cavity. The pressure in the container is maintained above atmospheric pressure, and when dispensing the beverage, pressure in the cavity collapses the collapsible container and forces the beverage out through the beverage outlet. A gas compressor is connected to the gas valve, and is activated by a pressure switch to maintain the pressure within the cavity. To refill the keg assembly, the collapsible container can be replaced, and a new collapsible container filled whilst within the outer shell.

Openable portions may be scored lines or reduced-thickness lines or regions, which open to form exit paths for a prepared beverage when a compressive force is applied to the sidewall, such as by moving a portion of the bottom wall toward an upper end portion of the cartridge to deform the sidewall and open the openable portions. Where the sidewall instead includes pre-formed openings, these may be initially covered or sealed and provide existing exit paths for prepared beverage upon removal of the cover. Optionally, a filter element is provided inside the cartridge for retaining a used beverage product inside the cartridge as a prepared beverage exits from the cartridge.

The invention relates to a beverage unit for producing a beverage. The beverage unit comprises a first provisioning module for providing a first liquid and a second provisioning module for providing a second liquid that contains alcohol. The beverage unit further comprises a taste module for providing additives, wherein the taste module is configured to receive a first capsule, which contains the additives for a portion of a first beverage. Furthermore, the beverage unit comprises a control module configured to determine parameters for producing the first beverage, wherein the parameters indicate a first amount of the first liquid and a second amount of the second liquid. The control module is further configured to bring about that the first amount of the first liquid is provided by the first provisioning module, and to bring about that the second amount of the second liquid is provided by the second provisioning module. A method for automatically sanitizing a liquid dispensing system having waterways providing paths for the liquid to flow to a dispenser , comprising the steps of:providing cold and hot liquid storage tanks;providing a first liquid pathway allowing chilled liquid to flow between the cold tank and the dispenser, and a second liquid pathway allowing heated liquid to flow between the hot tank and the dispenser;providing one or more dispensing valves permitting hot and cold liquid to be selectively dispensed through the dispenser; andsanitizing the waterways within the system, including the first and second liquid pathways, an interior surface of the cold and hot tanks, and an interior surface of the dispenser, when the one or more dispensing valves are closed, and no dispensing is occurring, by automatically introducing an ozone-containing, sanitizing liquid or gas to the waterways during a period when no dispensing occurs, wherein the step of introducing the ozone-containing, sanitizing liquid or gas occurs when a user manually places the liquid dispensing system into a sanitizing mode, thereby closing the one or more dispensing valves and contemporaneously locking out dispensing from occurring during the sanitization process.2. Each container including a receptacle containing an ingredient, and an upstream emptying valve allowing the ingredient to leave towards the outside via an overpressure generated inside the receptacle by the pressure source. A chamber receives the ingredients extracted from the containers, via the upstream emptying valves, under the effect of the overpressure, so as to make the drink. A control module commands the overpressures in the containers as a function of a desired composition for the drink. Each housing includes a draining coupling via which the ingredient of the container immobilized in the housing can be extracted from the container. The draining coupling opening, in the downstream direction, directly into a funnel defined by the chamber.
