Bottled water or other liquid is supplied via a bottle connector 5 for releasable sealing engagement with a neck formed on the bottle, and a transfer tube 6 to a reservoir 7 wherein the water may be cooled. The bottle connector 5, the transfer tube 6 and the reservoir 7 are all moulded of a plastics material containing silver bound in a ceramic ion exchange resin so that the silver ions (Ag+) are slowly released to prevent microbial growth on the surface of the components. The bottle connector may include a feed tube (21 fig 2) or a dip tube which also releases silver ions. Furthermore, the transfer tube 6 may be connected to the reservoir 7 via a reservoir connector (29 fig 2) which may incorporate a draw tube (31 fig 2) and one or more outlet tubes (14, 36 fig 2) e.g. leading to a discharge outlet, all of which release silver ions.

A cooling system for a beverage comprises an enclosure for housing a beverage container, a cold plate through which the beverage flows, and a refrigeration system that controllably cools the enclosure and the cold plate in a differential manner. In preferred embodiments, preference is given during normal operation to cooling the cold plate, and only cooling the enclosure when the cold plate is determined to be at or below a desired temperature. In some embodiments a special defrost cycle warms the cold plate while continuing to cool the enclosure. Controls can be mechanical, electronic or any combination of the two, and preferably utilizes information from both pressure and temperature sensors.

A caddy for use in supporting a flexible bag of a substance to dispense as well as a system for dispensing a substance include a front wall and a back wall. A floor extends between the front wall and the back wall and angles from the back wall in a direction towards the front wall a cradle is connected to the floor and the cradle opens in a downward direction and a rearward direction. A dispenser includes a cabinet, a load cell, a valve, and a processor. The cradle engages the load cell and the processor calculates a valve open time at least in part based upon a measurement of a load impressed upon a load cell and a requested dispense volume. The processor operates the valve to open for the calculated valve open time.

A beverage dispenser having a tank located inside a refrigerator which stores a beverage. A tube connects the tank to a spigot with a plunger and a valve located outside the refrigerator and below the tank. The plunger opens and closes the valve. When the valve is in an open position the beverage flows from the tank, through the tube and is dispensed from the spigot. When the valve is in a closed position, the beverage ceases to flow. Also included is a push bar which when pressed, causes the plunger to move to a position which causes the valve to open. When the push bar is released, the plunger returns to a position which causes the valve to close. In an alternate embodiment, also included are a second tank, tube, spigot and a selector which operates so that the beverage can flow from either tank to its associated spigot.

At least a portion of the valve is located in the first mounting hole. A lever is disposed under the supporting unit and coupled to the valve. When an external force is applied to the lever, the valve is open and allows the beverage to be supplied to the outside of the beverage container through the mouth of the beverage container.

A liquid dispenser for use with a disposable liquid supply container and a method of using the dispenser is described. The dispenser regulates the flow of liquid by way of a clamping device which substantially seals the liquid from the ambient air. A support for holding the container in an elevated position above the clamping device contains guide flanges which are used to adjust the area in which the container is positioned in the dispenser to accommodate several volume sizes. The liquid flows from the container by gravity through a connector passage which is regulated by the clamping device. In a preferred embodiment, a cooling device is provided to cool the liquid as it flows from the container.

The housing including a circumferential wall, a first closed end and a second open end. A spigot for selectively dispensing wine is supported by and positioned through the first closed end of the housing. A removable insert disposable within the housing through the second open end contains a collapsible bladder of wine. A wine dispensing port is contained within the bladder and insert. With the insert positioned within the housing, the port is positioned proximate the second open end thereof. A conduit in fluid communication with the spigot extends from the first closed end toward the second open end. Upon disposing the insert within the housing, the conduit is connectable to the port wherein the wine can be selectively dispensed from the spigot.
