A system and method for treating flowing water systems with a plasma discharge to remove or control growth of microbiological species. Components of the water system are protected from being damaged by excess energy from the electrohydraulic treatment. Ozone gas generated by a high voltage generator that powers the plasma discharge is recycled to further treat the water. A gas infusion system may be used to create fine bubbles of ozone, air, or other gases in the water being treated to aid in plasma generation, particularly when the conductivity of the water is high. An electrode mounting assembly maintains a high voltage electrode and ground electrode at a fixed distance from each other to optimize plasma generation. An open support structure for the high voltage generator circuit physically separates spark gap electrodes and resists metal deposits that may disrupt discharge of a high voltage pulse to create the plasma.

One or both of the electrodes is metallic, for example iron or titanium. Before the pulsed electrical arc discharge is terminated, another step that promotes destruction of the contaminant by particles, such as removing the particles from the liquid or adding an oxidizer to the liquid, is performed. Provided is a tank sterilizer composed of a power supply part including an operation switch, and a sterilization part for sterilizing fluid in a tank, wherein a sterilization effect is maximized by generating microbubbles by electrolysis or electric discharge instead of killing bacteria by using a UV LAMP, an ozone lamp, and a pressure pump, and due to the coupling of a bubble generation module and a power connection module to each other by an electroconductive connector, a separate power connector is not required to be installed, whereby the tank sterilizer is simple in structure and is easy to be installed. 1. A tank sterilizer comprising:a power supply part connected to external power;a power connection module being electrically conductive with the power supply part through a power supply line; anda bubble generation module mounted removably to the power connection module by a connector,wherein the connector is made of a conductive material, and electricity conducted to the power supply part is supplied to the bubble generation module by the connector such that the bubble generation module generates microbubbles and sterilizes fluid in a tank.2. The systems and methods described herein may allow for collection of a species such as a fluid (e.g., water) with a relatively high collection efficiency. A system and method for treating flowing water systems with a plasma discharge to remove or control growth of microbiological species. Components of the water system are protected from being damaged by excess energy from the electrohydraulic treatment. Ozone gas generated by a high voltage generator that powers the plasma discharge is recycled to further treat the water. A gas infusion system may be used to create fine bubbles of ozone, air, or other gases in the water being treated to aid in plasma generation, particularly when the conductivity of the water is high. A water treatment device includes: an insulating divider which divides a space inside a water tank into two treatment vessels adjacent to each other in a horizontal direction, and includes a current carrier which is able to energize water in the two treatment vessels; a treatment unit including a pair of electrodes, a power supply, and a power supply controller; a water supplier which supplies water to each of the treatment vessels; and a draining member which drains water from each of the treatment vessels. The treatment unit includes a detector which detects a level of water in each of the treatment vessels based on an index corresponding to a current value between the pair of electrodes.
