The thin-walled regions dissolve faster and allow prompt delivery of the concrete additive, while the thicker regions ensure rigidity of the container in storage and transport. The container may have internal walls 340 defining separate compartments and permitting splitting of the container into shorter, closed ones to fit smaller spaces. It may further have a tongue 350 and a matching groove 360 at opposite ends to allow joining of two or more containers to fit larger spaces. A second aspect of the invention relates to a water-soluble sheet with multiple sealed pockets extending across its surface in both lateral dimensions, each pocket containing a quantity of concrete admixture. The sheet is preferably made of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and used as a liner for formworks to apply surface features to concrete. A third aspect relates to a water-soluble strip holding a grid of tiles in fixed positions to simplify their application to walls or floors. The strip may further contain grout for the interspaces and bonding material to concrete.

    Electromagnetically-induced cement concrete crack self-healing diisocyanate microcapsules include raw materials, in parts by weight, comprising 15-55 parts of petroleum resin, 5-10 parts of paraffin, 5-10 parts of polyethylene wax, 3-10 parts of magnetic iron powder and 20-67 parts of diisocyanate. The diisocyanate microcapsules use the diisocyanate as a core material, and the petroleum resin/paraffin/polyethylene wax/magnetic iron powder mixture as the shell of the capsule. When micro cracks occur in the concrete, the crack propagation can break partial of the microcapsule inside, the diisocyanate inside the microcapsules flows out and diffuses into the crack and is subjected to a solidifying reaction with water in the concrete, so that the crack is repaired in time; and for the microcapsules that are not broken by cracks, external electromagnetic field can be applied to melt the shell to release the diisocyanate inside, thereby diffusing into cracks and solidify with water to repair them.

    A self repairing concrete containing microcapsules of urea formaldehyde resin, which can repair micro cracks in the concrete, comprises, in mass ratio: concrete/microcapsules/water = 100:1-15:15-50. A method of making the same includes: weighing enough water, adding microcapsules of urea formaldehyde resin into water and stirring until the microcapsules disperse sufficiently; adding the mixture into a mixing vessel, adding cement in corresponding mass into the vessel; stirring; adding filler materials including sands, stones etc; casting in the field with 1/3 of the total mass each time; vibrating and expelling the air therein until mould fills with slurry. The microcapsules release epoxy resin during their brokenness, then the latter has chemical reaction with solidifying agent in micro cracks to repair defective structure. Thus the invention reaches the result of self diagnosing and repairing micro cracks in concrete, preventing their spread, maintaining mechanical configuration of buildings. It has great economic value and environmental value.

    A delivery device for concrete admixtures, in the form of a film (1) of water-soluble material, having a concrete admixture incorporated within the film (1). The film can be attached to a formwork for concrete, e.g. by an adhesive (2A), and has a protective liner (4), which is removable to allow the water in the concrete to dissolve the film (1) and release the admixture into the concrete. The film (1) contains the required quantity of admixture and is weather-resistant and substantially time-insensitive. A process for retarding the setting of a surface portion of concrete by using the delivery device is also claimed.
