Transparent, impact-resistant, anti-icing coatings are disclosed. In some variations, a transparent anti-icing coating comprises: a continuous matrix of a hardened material; asymmetric templates that inhibit wetting of water, wherein the asymmetric templates have a length scale from about 10-300 nanometers; porous voids surrounding the asymmetric templates, wherein the porous voids have a length scale from about 15-500 nanometers; and nanoparticles that inhibit heterogeneous nucleation of water, wherein the nanoparticles have an average size from about 5-50 nanometers. Disclosed coatings have transparencies of 90% or higher light transmission. These coatings utilize lightweight and environmentally benign materials that can be rapidly formed into coatings. A uniform distribution of particles and asymmetric templates throughout the coating allows it to be abraded, yet retain its anti-icing function as well as transparency. Therefore if the surface is damaged during use, freshly exposed surface is identical to that which was removed, for extended lifetime.

The invention relates to a process for producing storage-stable polyurethane prepregs and to mouldings (composite components) produced therefrom. The prepregs and, respectively, components are produced by mixing (meth)acrylate monomers, (meth)acrylate polymers, hydroxy-functionalised (meth)acrylate monomers and/or hydroxy-functionalised (meth)acrylate polymers with uretdione materials. Photoinitiators can also optionally be added. This mixture or solution is applied by known processes to fibre material, e.g. carbon fibres, glass fibres or polymer fibres, and is polymerised with the aid of radiation or of plasma methods. Polymerisation, e.g. at room temperature or at up to 80° C., gives thermoplastics or thermoplastic prepregs, and these can subsequently also be subjected to forming processes. The hydroxy-functionalised (meth)acrylate constituents can then be crosslinked with the uretdiones already present within the system, by use of elevated temperature. It is thus possible to produce dimensionally stable thermosets or dimensionally stable crosslinked composite components.

A silylated polyurethane obtainable by a process comprising the following steps: (a) reacting at least one polyol with at least one triisocyanate to form a hydroxyl-terminated polyurethane prepolymer, and (b) reacting said polyurethane prepolymer with at least one isocyanatosilane of the formula (1): OCN—R—Si—(X)(R), wherein m is 0, 1 or 2, each Ris independently from each other a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an acyloxy group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, or —OCH(R)COOR, wherein Ris hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and Ris a straight-chain or branched alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, each X is independently from each other and optionally substituted hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, which can be interrupted by at least one heteroatom, and R is a difunctional organic group, to endcap the hydroxyl groups on said prepolymer with said isocyanatosilane. The silylated polyurethanes are suitable for use in a preparation as an adhesive, sealant, or coating agent. 1.
