SUBSTANCE: invention relates to versions of an environmentally safe hot-melt adhesive from renewable raw materials, as well as to an article using said glue and a method of producing said article. In one version, the hot-melt adhesive contains (a) a polyester resin; (b) a functionalised polyolefin or functionalised wax, (c) a tackifier and (d) a non-functionalised polyolefin having a homopolymer of monomer C 2 -C 20 or copolymer C 2 -C 20 . This hot-melt adhesive as a polyester resin contains a homopolymer or copolymer of lactic acid, butylene succinate, hydroxybutyric acid or their mixture. In another version, the hot-melt adhesive contains from about 5–80 wt. % polylactic acid, from about 0.1–25.0 wt. % functionalised polyolefin or functionalised wax, a tackifier and up to about 50 wt. % polyolefin containing C 2 -C 20 -Monomers. Viscosity of said adhesive is less than 30 % after aging of adhesive for at least 72 hours at 320 °F (160 °C). Glue practically does not contain rubber elastomer. Produced article comprises a substrate and a hot-melt adhesive composition. Article represents a box, a cardboard box, a tray, a label, a book binding, a bag or a disposable article. Article is obtained by applying the adhesive onto the substrate, by applying the second substrate onto the applied adhesive. The system comprises a reactor with at least one inlet and one outlet and at least one high shear mixing device with at least one inlet and one outlet. The at least one outlet of said high shear mixing device is in fluid communication with at least one inlet of said reactor. The high shear mixing device may comprise counter rotating rotors. The high shear mixing device may also comprise at least one catalytic surface. Embodiments disclosed herein also describe a method of producing enhanced wax alternatives. The method comprises (1) providing petroleum wax and base oil; (2) mixing said petroleum wax and base oil with a hydrogen-containing gas in a high shear device to form a feedstock; and (3) hydrogenating said feedstock for a time sufficient to produce enhanced hydrogenated products.

The process according to the invention for provision of a wax-containing water-based emulsion for production of a wood-containing structure comprises the following steps: a) providing water; b) providing a wax in liquid form; and c) combining the wax with the water in a first static mixer, with addition of an emulsifier before entry into the mixer. The inventive process regime allows, in an advantageous manner, the production of very finely dispersed emulsions of waxes in water, with additional introduction of adhesive in aqueous solution into the wax components. Thus, it is possible to hydrophobize wood-containing structures with a much smaller amount of waxes and/or to achieve the same adhesive action on sizing with a smaller amount of size, since the specific surface areas of wax and size distinctly increase compared to processes for self-emulsification known from the prior art.

The present invention discloses a sheet material useful as an innerseal that comprises a dimensionally stable substrate having at least 0.001 g/cm2 of a tack-free, shear-activated adhesive on one surface. The composition includes from 1 to 15 parts by weight of a block copolymer, from 1 to 25 parts by weight of a tackifier, and from 60 to 100 parts by weight of either a microcrystalline wax or an amorphous polyolefin. A mixture of the two can be used. The sheet material is shear-activated and does not adhere or block to itself or other surfaces until a shear force is applied to it. Additionally, it does not require special heating equipment in order to adhere it to surfaces. In a preferred aspect of the invention the innerseal leaves a residue on the lip around a container opening thereby providing a visible indication of removal.

The etching tool uses an ion beam that is configured to singulate a plurality of dies on a wafer with an ion etching process. The electrically-conductive-adhesive-composition is located between the wafer and a porous substrate carrying the wafer during the ion etching process. The electrically-conductive-adhesive-composition adheres the wafer to the porous substrate to keep the dies in place during the ion etching process. The electrically-conductive-adhesive-composition also aids in conducting electrons away from the wafer as a drain during the ion etching process. The heat-applying-extraction-tool applies heat to an individual die during a handling process of the manufacturing process in order to melt the electrically-conductive-adhesive-composition through the porous substrate to an evacuation component in order to then pick up an individual die singulated from the wafer. 1.
