This phenomenon is likely to occur for a thinner semiconductor wafer. The present invention resides in an adhesive sheet including a substrate and an adhesive layer disposed on the substrate. The substrate is formed of an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer having a vinyl acetate content of 10% by mass or less. The adhesive layer contains 100 parts by mass of a (meth)acrylate ester copolymer, 1 to 10 parts by mass of a cross-linker, 0.05 to 5 parts by mass of a silicone compound. The (meth)acrylate ester copolymer is formed of a copolymer produced by polymerizing a (meth)acrylate ester monomer and a functional-group-containing monomer.

Provided is a process for producing a pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet by laminating layers of active-energy-ray-curable compositions and irradiating the laminate with an active energy ray. The processes gives a pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet with less defects at low production cost and is applicable to the production of pressure-sensitive adhesive sheets of various kinds. The process includes: Steps A 1 and A 2 of applying an active-energy-ray-curable composition to one surface of a first carrier and to one surface of a second carrier using a die coater to form coated layers thereon; Step B of placing the resulting first and second carriers so that the coating-layer-side surfaces of the carriers face each other, and introducing an active-energy-ray-curable composition into between the first and second carriers; and Step C of irradiating a multilayer assemblage with an active energy ray, the multilayer assemblage obtained in Step B and including the active-energy-ray-curable compositions between the first and second carriers.

The (meth)acrylic polymer (B) is a polymer having a weight average molecular weight smaller than that of the acrylic polymer (A) as a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition, and functions as a tackifying resin along with the hydrogenated tackifying resin (C).

That is, the adhesive patterns more evenly distribute adhesive buildup across the cutter blade. Accordingly, a peeling strength between the wafer processing tape and the wafer ring can be increased and the wafer processing tape can be suppressed from being peeled off from the wafer ring during processes.
