Акриловый полимер содержит по меньшей мере одну силановую или силоксановую функциональную группу, а силиконовый полимер представляет собой полисилоксан с диорганическими заместителями (диметил, метилвинил, метилфенил, дифенил, метилэтил или 3,3,3-трифторпропил) и концевой функциональной группой, выбранной из гидроксильной, алкоксильной, винильной и гидридной функциональной группы или их смеси. METHOD OF ADJUSTING PHYSICAL PROPERTIES IN SILICONE ELASTOMERIC SEALANT An improved silicone elastomeric sealant composition is produced by mixing alkoxy functional polydiorganosiloxane having alkoxysilethylene ends with a combination of trifunctional or tetrafunctional silane crosslinker and difunctional silane chain extender. The sealant composition is stable upon storage in the absence of moisture, but cures to an elastomer upon exposure to moisture. The cured composition can be adjusted for the desired elongation by varying the ratio of crosslinker to chain extender, but there must be at least 50 mol percent of crosslinker in the composition to ensure that the composition cures to a non-tacky surface.

The sealant is intumescent, and non-setting, and is intended for placement around pipes, cables and service penetrations in walls, floors and ceilings. At the temperatures encountered in fires, the aluminium hydroxide decomposes to form aluminium oxide and steam, the latter causing the sealant to intumesce while being relatively harmless to people (no halogen gases are evolved). The aluminium oxide and zinc borate form a crust on the intumesced sealant, providing a further fire retardant property.

Grafting is pref. carried out in the presence of a peroxide, such as dicumyl peroxide. The elastomer material is intended for use as a sealing material at gas pressures, which can vary rapidly between high pressures, at which considerable gas absorption in the material occurs, and low pressures, at which considerable gas desorption occurs. A curable composition is characterized by containing a polyalkylene oxide (A) having a hydrolyzable silyl group, an acrylic polymer (B) having a hydrolyzable silyl group, and an alkoxysilane oligomer (C) which is a hydrolysis-condensation product obtained from an alkylalkoxysilane and an aminoalkoxysilane and contains nitrogen atoms in an amount of 1% by weight or more. 1. In addition, the compositions according to the invention may include further additives (D). The composition is liquid at room temperature and, apart from the latent acid former, does not contain any further catalysts for the moisture curing of alkoxysilanes. After activation of the acid former, the composition cures in the presence of moisture, whereas it remains in liquid form at room temperature in the presence of air humidity over a period of at least 24 hours prior to activation of the acid former.
