The wool may be derived from natural rocks or may be slag wool ; it is preferably coated or impregnated with a halide or carbonate of an alkali or alkaline earth metal, e.g. barium chloride, lithium chloride, lithium carbonate, cryolite, or sodium carbonate acting as a fluxing agent. The flux may be mixed with water to form a slurry which is coated on a pad of mineral wool. A thin sheet of the lubricant or a thin sheet of glass also may be interposed between the billet and the cylindrical container wall. When extruding a hollow billet, glass powder may be placed in the bore of the billet. Specific examples are given for extruding nickelchromium steel and alloy.

A lubricant film forming step, prior to the pipe end correction step, applies lubricant at least either on the inner surface of the pipe end portion of the seamless pipe or on a surface of the plug. This invention relates to block polymers containing both crystalline and elastomeric blocks, the block copolymer having an A block and a B block. The A block is a polyethylene or an ethylene polymer optionally containing an alpha-olefin and is generally crystalline. The B block contains an ethylene, α-olefin copolymer segment and optionally contain an ethylene, α-olefin, non-conjugated diene terpolymer segment. If the B block contains a diene containing segment, the diene containing segment is furthest from the junction of the A and the B blocks. Also disclosed is a process for manufacture of the block copolymers and methods for coupling the block copolymers. Coupled block copolymers are useful as thermoplastic elastomers exhibiting physical properties approaching those of crosslinked EP or EPDM elastomers, but showing thermal processability after coupling. The block copolymers of the present invention may also be used as a lubricant or fuel additive, as a plastics blend component, in bitumen blends, as a component in hot melt adhesives and as a component of roof sheeting compounds.

A method of transporting metal ions by introducing a metal complex into a medium containing a moiety which demands the metal ion and the complex releases the ions in a controlled manner upon demand. The metal complexes have an aqueous proton induced dissociation property represented by a sigmoidally-shaped curve on a cartesian coordinate plot of the negative log of the metal ion concentration versus the negative log of hydrogen ion concentration. This dissociation property causes a controlled release of metal ion into mediums containing a reacting moiety upon demand for the metal ion. For example, metalworking emulsions of oil and water are stabilized by the addition thereto of minor amounts of a metal complex, e.g., disodium monocopper(II) citrate, which at alkaline pH metalworking conditions above about 7 to about 9 releases metal cations to the emulsions imparting stabilizing characteristics which prevent emulsion degradation by a number of factors commonly encountered in metalworking operations. Also, the method is effective in the controlled release of metal ions in the normal range of physiological pH, i.e., about 4 to 9, for growth controlling action against microorganisms including bacteria, fungi and viruses.
