The invention provides a spun yarn comprising recycled carbon fibre, and a method for the production thereof. The recycled carbon fibre comprises discontinuous carbon fibre and, optionally, continuous carbon fibre, and may be recycled from various sources, such as end-of- life waste and manufacturing waste. The yarn which is produced shows the required degree of strength and durability, and can be used in all conventional composite manufacturing operations where virgin yarn is currently employed, such as woven fabric manufacture, unidirectional fabric manufacture, filament winding, pultrusion and the like. 1. A method of hardening a clothing wire for processing textile fibres and to an apparatus system therefor. A clothing wire for a clothing roller of a carding machine extends in a wire longitudinal direction and having a base segment, which is thicker transversely to the wire longitudinal direction. A leaf segment, which is narrower compared to the base segment, protrudes from the base segment. A plurality of teeth is formed on the leaf segment along the clothing wire in the wire longitudinal direction. Each tooth has two leaf segment lateral surfaces adjoining the base segment. On at least one of the leaf segment lateral surfaces, at least one projection is formed on each tooth. The cross-sectional profile of the projection is asymmetric and preferably has the contour of a nose. The design of the clothing wire results in a homogenization or parallelization of the fibers, with little wear of the clothing wire and less damage to the fibers.

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus of carding staple fibres like cotton. More particularly, the present invention is directed to an apparatus for carding of staple fibres with minimum number of moving parts and to reduce the need for close tolerances, especially where moving parts are involved, in order improve the manufacturability of the apparatus. Density of input tufts to the carding machine is reduced. Diameter of carding cylinder ( 7 ) is reduced, with corresponding increase in its rotational speed, to maintain the peripheral speed. An air guiding element ( 6 ) and at least air deflection elements ( 8 ) used for capturing long fibres on a perforated roller. This enables elimination of close-set moving parts and simplifications of design. Advantageously, the present invention minimizes the damage to the fibres so that they retain their natural and desirable properties.

A carding machine for producing a nonwoven tissue/card sliver is characterized by guiding the fibres along the lower side of the drum (5) and by a waste collecting chamber (2) arranged below the drum and provided with a suction device (4). The drum is equipped with carding elements (22b) and discarding blades (23) substantially located at its lower circumference. The opening drum (7) and taker-in drum (6) are associated to the upper circumference of the drum (5) and are also provided with carding elements (22c, 22b). The supply device (14) at the taker-in drum and the dispensing device (19) at the doffing drum (8) are located at approximately the same level. By guiding the fibres around the lower side of the drum, discarding and in particular evacuating particles of dirt become very simple. The bulky waste collecting chamber (2) allows an uniform suction flow for all dirt discarding elements without affecting the quality of the nonwoven tissue. In addition, the opening drum (7) and the taker-in drum (7) may be arranged at the upper circumference of the drum. A narrow and consequently very compact embodiment is thus obtained.
