The trousers are clamped and stretched and subjected to sand blasting or shot blasting, followed by steam treatment and drying in hot air. Process gives the jeans trousers the desired worn and faided look, at low manufacturing costs. The trousers are pref. secured by clamps at the waist and by hooks at the trouser ends so that air can be blown through the inside of the garment. The garment is held vertically and rotated while passing through the sand/shot blasting and steaming stages. Gravel or metal particles are used for the blasting stage, while deflectors are used to give swirling air eddies for the final drying stage. The garments pass through an equipment divided into three chambers, for the three phases, of the process, so that the trousers can be passed though a tunnel for treatment the first chamber being fittined with an air filter.

Input to the tool includes fabric template images, laser input files, and damage input. The tool allows adding of tinting and adjusting of intensity and bright point. The user can also move, rotate, scale, and warp the image input.

Software and lasers are used to finish apparel made of the fabric to produce a desired wear or distressing pattern or other design. The fabric allows for relatively fast color change in response to the laser, color changes in hue from indigo blue to white, many grayscale levels, and maintains strength and stretch properties. A method used to make the fabric includes spinning, dyeing, and weaving yarns in such a way to obtain the desired enhanced response characteristics for laser finishing.

Method for giving a faded and aged appearance to cotton textiles comprises first washing with hot water to eliminate finishing agents and then treating (in a rotating-drum washing machine) with pumice and lime or a calcium salt. The machine is then exptied and the materials subjected to a series of hot and/or cold water rinses. The rinses are carried out in presence of the pumice and also, for one rinse, of an acid. Pref. the first stage is at 80 deg.C for 10 min. and the machine is rotated at 50-150 rpm. For every 100 kg of textiles, 150-250 kg pumice, 30-100 kg lime or Ca salt and 140-300 l water are used. The method is esp. applied to denim. Treated garments are soft in to the tough and resemble those which have been aged/faded by normal extended wearing.
