An improved processes for making fluff pulp sheets mechanically eliminates many of the unwanted fiber-to-fiber bonding (fiber bundles) which may be contained in the sheet to produce consistent and uniform quality fluff pulp. Pulp slurry is deposited on a moving bottom forming wire to form a stock web. Pulp slurry is brought into contact with a moving top forming wire. The stock web is subjected to up and down dewatering creating separately formed layers to reduce fiber-to-fiber bonding. The stock web can be subjected to strong pulsating shear forces as it is being advanced along the bottom forming wire to break a majority of fiber bundles contained in the web. The pulp slurry can be deposited on the bottom forming wire utilizing a headbox with dilution control to selectively adjust the concentration of the pulp slurry. A shoe press can be used to dewater the web after it is subjected to the pulsating shear forces. The web can be dried utilizing conventional drying equipment, such as cylindrical driers. 1. A process for making a fluff pulp sheet , comprising:creating a pulp slurry which includes pulp fibers suspended in a liquid, the pulp slurry containing multiple fiber bundles formed from pulp fibers which are bonded together and dispersed within the pulp slurry;applying an amount of the pulp slurry onto a moving bottom forming wire to form a web thereon, the pulp slurry being dispensed by a headbox; andcontrolling the cross-directional weight basis of the web by varying the concentration of the pulp slurry being deposited from the headbox onto the bottom forming wire.2. Multiple groups of sensors are circumferentially spaced apart at each cross-directional position along a sensing roll of a nip press to measure and cancel or nearly cancel the effects of rotational variability which may be acting on the sensing roll. The strategically-placed sensors are designed to measure the pressure being placed against the web that is being advanced through the nip press. The average of the measurements of multiple sensors spaced circumferential apart provides a good cancellation of any rotational variability that might be found at a cross-directional position on the sensing roll. In this manner, a more true measurement of the nip pressure profile can be obtained and better adjustments made to reduce nip pressure profile variability. In addition, the nip variability profile may be used as a predictor of cover or bearing failures, resonant frequencies and other roll anomalies. 1. Further, the method includes refining the pulp mixture such that at least some of the calcium ions become associated with the reactive sites in the fiber walls. Multiple groups of sensors are circumferentially spaced apart at each cross-directional position along a sensing roll of a nip press to measure and cancel or nearly cancel the effects of rotational variability which may be acting on the sensing roll. The strategically-placed sensors are designed to measure the pressure being placed against the web that is being advanced through the nip press. The average of the measurements of multiple sensors spaced circumferential apart provides a good cancellation of any rotational variability that might be found at a cross-directional position on the sensing roll. In this manner, a more true measurement of the nip pressure profile can be obtained and better adjustments made to reduce nip pressure profile variability. In addition, the nip variability profile may be used as a predictor of cover or bearing failures, resonant frequencies and other roll anomalies.

A sealing device seals a pressure or vacuum zone in a roller with a perforated roller sleeve that rotates relative to the sealing device. A sealing strip and a format limiter seal the pressure or vacuum zone. The sealing strip has a lubricant opening formed as an upwardly open depression. A sealing face of the sealing strip and of the format limiter brace against the roller sleeve, and the roller sleeve runs onto the sealing strip at the front end and runs off the sealing strip at the rear end. A lubricant opening of a second type which is open toward the upper side, but not toward the end side against which the format limiter is placed, and/or a lubricant opening of a third type is upwardly open and toward that end side against which the format limiter is placed, and/or at least in portions no lubricant opening is provided. 115-. There is provided a shoe press belt for a papermaking machine, comprising one or more resin layers. At least a part of the resin layers comprises a polyurethane resin comprising polymeric MIDI as an ingredient. The polyurethane resin may be a resin obtainable by reacting one or more curing agent(s) having an active hydrogen group, polymeric MDI and one or more urethane prepolymer(s) having a terminal isocyanate group, the urethane prepolymer(s) being obtainable by reacting one or more isocyanate compound(s) with one or more polyol(s). 1.
