At that the parallel threads of the third layer are aligned so that they are located in the spaces between the parallel threads of the first layer in the same plane extending in the thickness direction. Each groove has a number of conic flutes. The flute in section is wider at its open upward than a groove, so that the flute runs into contact areas separating neighboring grooves and narrow down till width of groove's bottom. The width of grooves does not exceed depth of the groove. Method of grooves and flutes formation on the surface of the band includes formation of a number of lateral grooves and conic flutes in each groove. The flutes are spaced along each groove, and their centers are placed on the center line of the groove. The flutes are placed with diagonal shift towards the flutes in the neighboring parallel grooves. One or more flutes have an elongate shape stretched along the groove in the direction along movement of the mechanism. Method of production of endless tape impregnated with gum and tape for paper-making machines and similar industrial applications

The base for making endless tape, used in a paper-making machine, contains several separate prefabricated layers, which are covered or impregnated with polymer or rubber-like material. Each of the separate layers can be textile material or textile material covered or impregnated with a resin or rubber-like material. At least one of the layers contains a matrix from reinforcement components. The production method of a base for endless tape production involves the following operations: depositing a coating or impregnating at least one layer, obtaining a crude product with coating or impregnated layer. The layers are then joined and processed, obtaining a multilayer structure, or layers containing matrix of pre-polymer and hardening agent are joined, forming a structure which is processed, thereby obtaining a multilayer structure. The obtained structure is then hardened. Tape for use in paper production consists of several separate layers of prefabricated material, which are impregnated or coated with polymer resin or rubber-like material. The layers are joined with formation of a tape in which one the layers contains a reinforcement component. A belt for use on a long nip press for dewatering a fibrous web includes a base assembled by spirally winding a prepared structure strip in a plurality of non-overlapping turns. Successive turns are abutted against and joined to those previously wound by sewing or otherwise bonding along the continuous spiral seam thus formed. The prepared structure strip may be a fabric strip woven from lengthwise and crosswise yarns, which may be monofilament yarns of a synthetic polymeric resin. The fabric strip may be of either a single- or multi-layer weave. At least one side of the base, namely, that side which will be on the inside of the belt in its endless loop form, and which slides over the arcuate pressure shoe component of the long nip press during its operation, is coated with a polymeric resin, such as polyurethane, to render it impervious to liquids, and especially to the oil used to lubricate the surface of the arcuate pressure shoe. The coating is ground and buffed to provide the belt with a smooth surface and a uniform thickness.

There are provided a press blanket for a pressing device intended for extracting liquid from a web passing through a press nip of a papermaking machine, and a device for producing such a press blanket. In addition to the reinforcing threads extending in the axial direction and circumferential threads arranged thereon and extending in the circumferential direction of the press blanket, the press blanket comprises a continuous fabric layer or a bandage extending in the area between the circumferen-tial threads and grooves or blind holes starting at the surface of the press blanket. The continuous fabric layer acts to prevent the propagation of fissures that may form in operation due to the high pressing forces, preferably at the bottom of the grooves as a consequence of the high notch stresses prevailing at these points. This significantly improves both the service life of the press blanket and the operating safety. The fabric tape may be spirally wound into the compound simultaneously with the production process, by pouring the elastomeric material onto a preferably cylindrical casting mold.

Provided is a method for manufacturing a papermaking belt structure using tapes made of a solid thermoplastic resin surrounding a fibrous matrix. The method calls for applying a layer of CD oriented tapes to a mandrel surface, then applying a layer of MD oriented tapes over the CD layer, applying pressure and heat to the mandrel containing the CD and MD layers so to melt the resin and entirely bond/encapsulate the fibrous matrix. The belt structure thus obtained may, thereafter be grooved, drilled or other processed as desired. Additionally, the above method can be reversed as to the MD/CD order of layering. Also, a layer entirely of resin can be applied, préferably prior to, but also after or in between the MD/CD layers. Also, rubber can comprise one or more layers.

Methods for closing a seam in a paper processing belt having a coating of polymeric resin material require the covering of the seam on the uncoated side of the belt with an encapsulating material, so that the seam will have compression properties substantially identical to those of use of the remainder of the belt. In one method, a viscous paste obtained by mixing a polymeric resin material with a blowing agent is used. Following installation of the fabric, or belt, on a paper machine by closing its pin seam with a pintle, the seam region on the non-paper side of the fabric or belt is impregnated with the viscous paste. The seam region is then heated to a temperature to activate the blowing agent and to create a foam from the paste. The foam fills voids in the seam region, and may pass out through the slit in the coating over the seam. Raising the temperature further cures the foam and may glue the slit closed. In other methods, a pre-foamed polymeric resin may be used to impregnate the seam region, or the seam region may be covered with a solid foam strip of a polymeric resin or a fibrous strip of fibrous batt material, either of which may be secured to the seam region by an adhesive. In each case, the belt so seamed may be used as a transfer belt or long nip press (LNP) belt, or in other paper processing applications.

The present invention provides a shoe press belt formed of a reinforcing fiber base material and a polyurethane layer integrated with each other. The reinforcing fiber base material is embedded in the polyurethane layer. The papermaking shoe press belt includes, as the polyurethane layer, an outer circumferential polyurethane layer in which concave grooves are formed. The outer circumferential polyurethane layer is obtained by curing a composition composed in combination of a urethane prepolymer and one or more curing agent. The urethane prepolymer is obtained by reacting a p-phenylene diisocyanate compound with a long-chain polyol. The at least one curing agent is containing 65 to 100 mol% of one or more organic polyamine compounds having active hydrogen groups, which is selected from 4,4'-methylenedianiline and/or a complex of 4,4'-methylenedianiline and sodium chloride, and 4,4'-methylene bis(2,6-diethyl-3-chloroaniline).

A belt for use on an extended nip press for dewatering a fibrous web is shown. The belt includes a base fabric having machine-direction and cross-machine direction yarns and takes the form of an endless loop. At least one of the machine-direction and cross-machine direction yarns is a spun yarns of staple fibers. The base fabric is completely coated and impregnated with a polymeric resin, such as polyurethane, to render it impervious to liquids, especially lubricating oil. The inner surface of the resulting belt slides over the arcuate pressure shoe component of the extended nip press during its operation. The outer surface of the belt is provided with grooves separated by land areas which together define channels for water pressed from the fibrous web in the press nip. The land areas are anchored to the belt by means of staple fibers from the spun yarns embedded in the coating and are not susceptible to delamination.

In a wet paper web transfer belt (10), the wet paper web side layer is formed by a high molecular weight elastic section (50) containing porous bodies (20) which are exposed at, or protrude from the web-contacting surface. The porous bodies (20) are anchored in the resin and wear at about the same rate way as the surrounding resin. Therefore, the distribution of the porous bodies does not vary significantly as a result of abrasion. This transfer belt can transport an attached wet paper web, and release the web smoothly to a next stage in the papermaking process, over a long period of use.

In a shoe press belt, in which the nip zone is narrower than the shoe width, the shearing force which normally acts on the belt at the outer boundary of the nip zone is made either weak or non-existent by forming the outer portions of the belt of less hardness than the inner, or central, portion of the belt, so that the less hard portions can be positioned directly opposite the outer boundaries of the nip zone. Alternatively, the outer portions of the belt can be made thinner than the central portion of the belt and the thinner portions positioned directly opposite to the nip zone boundaries. The shearing force applied to the belt at the nip ends of the roll is reduced or eliminated, cracking resulting from the shear force is reduced or avoided, and a belt having improved durability results.
