Methods are described for constructing an underground vertical structure, comprising the steps of excavating soil to a sufficient depth to create a circular void to accommodate a plurality of segments; assembling a ring shaped structure comprising the plurality of segments; connecting the outside surface of the ring shaped structure with the soil in said circular void, thereby securing the ring shaped structure to the soil; excavating earth beneath the ring shaped structure to accommodate a second ring shaped structure; and repeating steps b-d thereby forming one or more additional ring shaped structures downward into the earth below already formed ring shaped structures until a predetermined depth is reached; thereby forming the underground vertical structure. A retaining wall system includes a plurality of large mass retaining blocks formed with vertically oriented openings passing therethrough for the installation of micro-pile soldier piles. The retaining blocks can be formed of pre-cast concrete and stacked vertically so that the vertical openings are aligned for the installation of micro-pile soldier piles through the stacked retaining blocks and into the bedrock below the retaining blocks. The micro-pile soldier piles can include a steel casing that is installed through the aligned vertical openings to terminate at the bedrock with grout filling the steel casing except for optional reinforcement. The retaining blocks can be formed with cutout key openings that allow concrete to be inserted to provide a key interlock between adjacent retaining blocks to further stabilize the retaining wall. The body may include a flange configured to create an annular space around the upper adapter and one or more flow injection conduits configured for injecting grout received from the upper hollow pile shaft through the axial bore extension into the annular space while the pile is advanced downward into a substrate. Once the final pile tip elevation is reached, the pile extensions above the grouting module are counter-rotated slightly to realign the ports in the grouting module from side to bottom discharge and allow post-grouting of the lead pile extension.

To reduce set-up time and to allow complete alignment of the platform which carries the base flange of the tower construction, the invention provides a foundation with a cage structure having an upper stress distribution flange connected by a plurality of tensioned anchor bolts to a lower flange. The flanges are separated by a number of distance elements whereby the shape of the cage structure becomes fixed by the combination between tensioned bolts and distance elements. Since the cage structure has a fixed shape, the upper stress distribution flange can be aligned before the cage structure is embedded in concrete, and it becomes unnecessary to wait for the concrete to harden.

The Passive Tailings Compactor is a system of components for facilitating the continuous passive drainage and consolidation of fine-grained sediments in active and continuous deposition environments. The invention consists of a flotation device, an anchor mass, and a drainage conduit which acts as a tether between the flotation device and the anchor. The presently disclosed soil densification system includes an air delivery probe or pipe that can be driven or otherwise installed into a soil mass. A method, for example, may include placing a conduit network inside forms of a concrete foundation, documenting the conduit network in X and Y coordinate system, pouring the concrete foundation with the conduit network inside the concrete in generally the same position, passing an elevation measuring sensor through the conduit network to record a baseline elevation of the conduit and using this baseline for relative comparisons in the future. An embodiment of a method also may include using the relative change in the conduit elevation to predict the relative risk of a repair and financial losses and using the relative change in the conduit elevation to assist in the proper repair and maintenance of the foundation.

The action includes notifying a user and/or instructing the active ventilation device to alter the exhaust rate.

A device measures the flow rate of a fluid, such as concrete, in a pumping plant connected to a drilling machine provided with a drilling tool. The pumping plant includes a motor pump and a connection pipe to lead fluid from the motor pump to the drilling tool. The device includes a transmitting module, for rigidly and removably mounted on the pumping plant and including an accelerometer and a receiving module, associated with the drilling machine.
