A yard hydrant, including a discharge nozzle above ground level, connects to other vertically reciprocal working parts in the ground below the frost line. A water storage chamber, disposed below the frost line, is formed in part by a deformable diaphragm. Residual water in the hydrant, when the hydrant is turned off, is collected in the water storage chamber and returned to the hydrant for discharge through the nozzle when the hydrant is turned on. A venturi disposed in the water supply line creates turbulence and thereby creates a lower pressure adjacent the exit of the venturi when the hydrant is turned on. A hydrant , comprising:a conduit having a first end and a second end;a head interconnected to the first end of the conduit;a reservoir associated with the second end of the conduita pressure reducing device positioned within the reservoir and interconnected to the second end of the conduit, the pressure reducing device comprised of a first end, which is interconnected to the conduit, and a second end associated with a fluid inlet valve with a throat between a first end and a second end of the pressure reducing device;a bypass tube having a first end interconnected to a location adjacent to the first end of the pressure reducing device and a second end interconnected to a bypass valve, the bypass valve also associated with the second end of the pressure reducing device;wherein when the bypass valve is opened, fluid flows from the inlet valve, through the bypass tube, through the conduit, and out the head; andwherein when the bypass valve is closed, fluid flows through the pressure reducing device.2. The hydrant of claim 1 , further comprising a check valve associated with the pressure reducing device that selectively allows access to the internal volume of the reservoir.3. The hydrant of claim 1 , wherein further comprising a freeze recognition button that allows the user to ascertain if fluid has been evacuated from the conduit after flow of fluid from the hydrant is ceased.4. The security device intended for preventing unauthorised access to a duct is described. It is particularly suitable for preventing unauthorised access to water meters or stopcocks. Rather than providing a clamp or cover attached to the control device itself, a device is placed in the duct including members 8, 13 expanding radially to engage walls of the duct by a drive, and a coupling for input to the drive via a mechanical security key.
