Preferably, each corrugation has a planar element arranged on lines generally perpendicular to the side edge defining congruent elements with tri-angular faces meeting at the apex. By such arrangement, a panel is obtained which in conjunction with other such panels, can produce a curved surface, which curvature may be reversed in direction in any point along a structure surface, by inverting the next adjacent series of panels.

A blow-molded plastic structure has a hollow interior portion formed during a blow-molding process, and includes first and second outer portions that are spaced apart from each other, with the hollow interior portion disposed there between. The structure includes a pattern of structural stiffening features that are integrally formed in the second outer portion. The pattern of structural stiffening features includes a plurality of tripodal depressions disposed in rows and columns and a plurality of convex regions disposed in rows and columns between the plurality of tripodal depressions. Each convex region has a maximum height between the first and second outer portions. Each of the tripodal depressions extends into the hollow interior portion, includes three indentations disposed adjacent the first outer portion, and includes an island spaced away from the first outer portion. The island has three sides, each of which is disposed adjacent one of the three indentations.

According to one aspect of the present invention, a method is provided which includes the steps of calculating dimensions and segments of a three-dimensional model based on detected acoustic properties of a room, characteristics of substrate materials, and dimensions of a selected substrate. According to a preferred embodiment, the material employed with the present invention may include materials such as cardboard, paper, acrylic, wood, and fabric. A high strength low density panel. The panel is formed of sections. Each section will preferably have the shape of a cuboid or a prism. At least one face of each section is provided with a buttress. The sections are preferably inverted relative to each other. The sections are configured so that they share sidewalls with each adjacent section, which creates a series of braces extending across the panel. The prismatic sections are paired to form cuboids. These cuboids have a diagonal internal wall. The internal walls of the cuboids align in the panel to create braces that extend across the panel at an angle to the other braces. Finally, all of the buttresses are configured so that the buttress of adjacent and eater-corner sections meet their respective common section corners at substantially the same point.

These elements extend laterally across the panel, and are dimensioned such that a pair of adjacent parallel side edges of two corresponding panels can mate. The flanges preferably extend along the entire length of the lines defining the folded transversely triangular elements, and may usefully be linear and arranged on lines defining congruent elements with triangular faces, and sloping side edge portions of the panel. By such arrangement, a panel is obtained which in conjunction with other such panels, can produce a curved surface, which curvature may be reversed in direction in any point along a structure surface, by inverting the next adjacent series of panels.

Prefabricated wall assemblies for the construction of buildings have a corrugated panel and preferably include at least one backside panel. The corrugated panel has one or more vertical channels and several horizontal channels. The vertical channels extend the entire panel height and are recessed from the front face. The horizontal channels extending the entire panel width and are also recessed from the front face so they intersect with the vertical channel. The horizontal channels are almost as wide as the vertical channels, and are greater than one-half the channel width of the vertical channel. The backside panel is connected to the corrugated panel to form a structural panel assembly. The backside panel can be a shear panel or other backside flat panel, a backside corrugated panel symmetrically mirroring the corrugated panel, a backside corrugated panel asymmetrically mirroring the corrugated panel, a sandwiched corrugated panel, or any combination thereof.

[Also in Groups X and XXII] A slab, panel or the like comprises two or more layers of closed cells, adjacent cells in each layer being connected together by a web or the like, all the cells in each layer being arranged in a symmetrical pattern so that straight lands, provided by the webs and extending across the layer, are present between the cells, the density of the layers being graded progressively, so that the slab or the like has a density which is at a maximum in the neighbourhood of one or both faces and a minimum in the neighbourhood of the opposite face, or the median plane as the case may be. The variation in density may be produced by varying the size or shape of the cells, the thickness of the cell walls, or the material of the layers. As shown in Fig. 3, rolls A 1 , A 2 , A 3 , &c. carry foils F 1 , F 2 , F 3 , &c. of thermoplastic material, e.g. polyvinyl chloride. Alternate foils F 1 , F 3 , &c. are passed between dimpling rollers B 1 , B 3 , &c. which produce a pattern of dimples or cups 16 (Fig. 4) with straight lands L 1 and L 2 therebetween. The dimples may be hemispherical, as shown, or may be truncated cones or pyramids. The foils F 2 , F 6 , &c. are passed between sprays S 1 , which spray adhesive on to them. Each group of three foils, F 1 , F 2 and F 3 ; F 5 , F 6 and F 7 ; &c. then passes through a pressing roller assembly C 1 to laminate the foils together. The foils F 5 and F 7 have larger dimples than the foils F 1 and F 3 ; the dimples in foils F 9 and F 11 are still larger. The laminated assemblies D are passed between further pressing roller assemblies C 2 where they are interleaved with foils F 4 , F 8 , &c. provided with adhesive from the sprays S 2 .
