Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for measuring the pressure of fresh concrete and similar liquid materials during placement, in which a movable component is displaced under the pressure of concrete or other liquids and is used as an indicator of the pressure exerted by the concrete or liquid material on the device. Mechanical resistance of the movable component is achieved using a calibrated spring or similar mechanical resistance element. The movable part consists of a pressure plate attached to a scaled cylindrical core, calibrated to provide measurements of the external concrete or liquid pressure. The cement forms, in some cases, are formed by a process that involves combining cement and expanded polystyrene with one or more liquids that interact with the expanded polystyrene to improve adhesion between the cement and the expanded polystyrene. The resulting forms may provide insulating properties. Some of the disclosed cement-containing forms and compositions may also have a relatively low density in comparison with other cement-containing compositions. 1. A cement-containing form comprising:cement; andexpanded polystyrene;wherein the cement-containing form has a resistive strength of greater than 700 psi.2. A method comprising:placing a first quantity of concrete in a concrete form, wherein the concrete form comprises a concrete forming panel and a reinforcing frame, wherein a layer of insulating material is disposed between the reinforcing frame and the first quantity of plastic concrete;sensing the temperature of the first quantity of concrete in the concrete form;moving the concrete form to an adjacent position after the first quantity of concrete reaches a desired temperature, wherein at least a portion of the first quantity of concrete is not within the concrete form;placing a second quantity of concrete in the concrete form.22. The method of claim 21 , wherein sensing the temperature of the first quantity of concrete in the concrete form comprises a first temperature sensor in thermal communication with the first quantity of concrete and a computing device operatively associated with the first temperature sensor.23. In exemplary implementations of this invention, a nozzle sprays foam, layer by layer, to fabricate a fabricated object according to a CAD model, and a subtractive fabrication tool removes material from the fabricated object according to a CAD model. The fabricated object comprises a mold or an interior form. The foam may be low-density, high strength and fast-curing. The foam may be used for large-scale 3D printing.
