A safety lock mechanism is provided that facilitates accurate and consistent alignment between a locking bolt and a locking receptacle prior to engaging the locking bolt. To this end, a safety lock configured to mount to a door frame is provided with an internally disposed hard stop that protects the electrical and mechanical components within the safety lock housing from door impact shock. An extended portion of the hard stop protrudes through the housing facing the direction of door travel. A corresponding receptacle assembly configured to mount to the door is fabricated to include a bolt receptacle hole as well as an open window that engages with the extended portion of the hard stop when the door is in the closed position. When the window in the receptacle is engaged with the extended portion of the hard stop, door movement is limited in five directions even when the locking bolt is not yet engaged. An optional magnet embedded in the hard stop can limit door movement in the sixth direction by magnetically latching to a striking plate mounted behind the window. Thus, the window and the hard stop pre-position the receptacle for proper alignment between the locking bolt and the locking bolt receptacle, ensuring that the locking bolt will properly engage with the receptacle when advanced.

Systems and methods for a tamper-evident cargo container seal bolt lock are disclosed herein. The device can include a bolt member having a conductive medium running the axial length of the bolt, and a receiving member for locking the bolt into place. A battery-driven sensory circuit including a memory means, a processor, and a timing circuit can be disposed within the receiving member such that a continuous circuit is formed from one circuit pin over the conductive medium through the length of the bolt and back to a second pin. Locks, systems and methods of monitoring a lock, the lock having a hub with a slot rotatable by a handle to open and close a latchbolt. A locking member is moveable into and out of engagement with the hub slot to prevent and permit movement of the hub and latchbolt. A sensor on the lock, adjacent the hub and locking member, monitors a moving lock component. The sensor may sense the position of the locking member in or out of engagement with the hub slot. The sensor may be a reed switch actuated by a magnet on the moving lock component. The lock may further include a magnet mounted on the hub and the sensor may comprise a reed switch capable of being actuated by the magnet on the hub. The lock and system may include an external control unit having an alarm for controlling operation of the lock. 1. A method of monitoring a lock comprising:providing a lock having a locking mechanism moveable between latched and unlatched positions;providing a pair of sensors on the lock, one sensor being activated when the locking mechanism is in the latched position and the other sensor being activated when the locking mechanism is in the unlatched position;monitoring signals from the sensors to determine activation thereof;detecting simultaneous activation of both sensors; andsending an alarm signal if the simultaneous activation of both sensors is detected.2. In a shock-secure door or hatch arrangement on marine ships, a doorway frame, on two opposite longitudinal edges thereof, has continuous latching bars that are receivable in corresponding grooves in opposite edges of a door in order to latch the door in a closed position. The latching bar on the hinged edge of the doorway frame is stationary and engages into the associated door edge groove during a closing motion of the door. The latching bar on the opposite edge of the doorway frame is movable by actuating elements so as to engage into the respective associated door edge groove for latching the door in its closed position. A privacy indicator is disclosed that uses a controller on an inside of a door with an indicator on the outside of the door, thereby optionally indicating a “busy” or “in use” state, or privacy request inside the door. A vertical-orientation-adjustable magnetic or acceleration sensitive switch may be used to cancel the “in use” state. An initial adjustment circuit is used to adjust the vertical position of the switch to allow for vertically misaligned mounting surfaces. The latched “in use” condition serves as a privacy request, reducing embarrassment when used in toilet stalls or bathrooms, or when other potentially embarrassing activities are being performed. Upon opening of the door, a radial acceleration is induced on a pendulum switch, whereupon the latched condition is cancelled, and the indicator no longer indicates the latched privacy request condition.

A door lock mechanism for an overhead door employs a sliding pin or rod that passes into the path of the rollers in the track, and obstructs the roller from movement in the direction to open the door. A spring in the door lock frame biases the sliding pin towards a proximal open position. The sliding pin has a swing arm that extends radially from the pin's proximal end, and which engages retaining structure at the proximal end of the door lock frame. Various example embodiments of a door locking module are disclosed. In accordance with one aspect, the door locking module comprises a door movement assembly and a locking mechanism. The door movement assembly includes a first linkage, the first linkage including a notch and movable along a first plane. The locking mechanism is operably coupled to the door movement assembly. The locking mechanism comprises a pin movable through the notch from an unlocked position to a locked position, wherein the first linkage is movable along the first plane when the pin is in the unlocked position and the pin prohibits movement of the first linkage along the first plane when the pin is in the locked position.

The docking station can include a cabinet with two doors that swing in different directions and a locking mechanism that regulates the opening and closing of those doors. In preferred embodiments, the locking mechanism includes a trapped-key lock. Embodiments of the present invention can be used in applications other than docking stations.
