In one aspect of the present disclosure, a locking device is provided including an interchangeable core (IC), a barrel, an anti-rotation plate, a prong driver, a bolt and a backplate. The barrel is coupled to the backplate and includes a hollow interior to receive the IC. The bolt is slidably disposed in a slot of the backplate. The IC includes a key hole. The prong driver is coupled to the IC and the bolt, such that, when a proper key is inserted into the key hole and rotated the bolt can be extended from the slot in a direction away from the locking device or retracted into the slot in a direction toward the interior of the locking device. The anti-rotation plate of the locking device is coupled to the barrel to prevent the locking device from being rotated relative to a structure the locking device is mounted to.

A lock mechanism for a motor vehicle ignition switch comprises a housing defining a barrel and a locking cylinder fitted for rotation in the barrel. A deadbolt door lock assembly operates a deadbolt between unlocked and locked positions. It generally comprises an actuator, a ring, and a biasing member. The actuators has a pin that interlocks with the actuator fork and rotates, in the preferred embodiment, in a clockwise direction to lock the dead bolt on either a right hand or left hand door. Once the deadbolt is locked, a biasing member urges the ring as interlocked with the actuator and returns it to the rest position. The assembly, in the preferred embodiment, is operable in the clockwise direction without disconnecting the biasing member. Obviously, the assembly can be prefabricated to operate in a counterclockwise direction. This is all achieved for the first time on any deadbolt and deadbolt latch by relocating the locking cylinder and deadbolt body assembly to the exact center of the deadbolt. Further, the deadbolt latch has all connecting assemblies and cylinder torque blade holes aligned in the center of the latch when assembled. In this way, the deadbolt latch may be inverted, when converting from a right hand to a left hand door. A housing for the deadbolt has an aperture external face. The handle slides in the aperture between an extended position with the deadbolt overlying the door, and a retracted position with the deadbolt clear of the door. The housing has a first wall and a second wall that together bound the deadbolt and connecting the external face to a door frame mounting plate. A mounting bracket having a cut-out adapted to receive a door latch extending from the door into a door jamb is provided that is integral with the housing and extending perpendicular therefrom. Determining a position of a deadbolt used to lock and unlock a door is disclosed. An electromechanical lock can include a deadbolt that can retract or extend along a linear path as the door is to be locked and unlocked. A sensor such as an accelerometer can rotate along a non-linear path as the deadbolt moves along a linear path. The accelerometer can determine a gravity vector that can be indicative of a position of the accelerometer along the non-linear path. A controller can then determine a position of the deadbolt based on the gravity vector.
