Coupling module for ladders

The module is used to couple ladders (II), and has two C-shaped profiles (1) which are held at a specific separation, by at least two rungs. The profiles may each form a mainly shape-mating connection with the outer edges of the side rails of a ladder. Locking elements (3) may be arranged on the profiles, in order to lock the ladder components positively in a specific position. A further pair of C-shaped profiles (1',1'') may be arranged at a set angle to the axis of the main profiles, in order to accept and lock other ladder components.

A folding ladder

A collapsible ladder includes a pair of stiles 20, and rungs 21 pivotally connected to the stiles in such manner that the ladder is movable between a folded, storage condition, in which the stiles cooperate to define a chamber within which the rungs are contained, and an unfolded condition in which the rungs extend horizontally. A cap (11, fig 4) is provided for fitment over the upper ends of the stiles to hold them together in the folded, storage condition. Cover formations 14 are formed integrally with the stiles, and are arranged to inter-engage when the ladder is in its folded condition to prevent access to the rungs and stiles and hence tampering or damage to the ladder. The ladder may be used with a multi-storey building. In further aspects a folding ladder is provided with a chamfered cap or a security device for preventing unauthorized removal of the cap.

A platform

A platform 10 comprises two or more ladders 20, 30, of the type having stiles 25, 26 and rungs 40, the ladders releasably attachable together in a side-by-side arrangement such that the rungs of each ladder are in the same plane. At least two of the rungs on each ladderare hollow, through which hollow rungs a first elongate member 50 is arranged to pass through co-axially positioned hollow rungs of each ladder. The first elongate member comprises a widened portion at one end thereof, and a releasable locking member 60 at the other end thereof, to releasably clamp the ladders together. Preferably, a stabilizing member 70 is arranged between two adjacent ladders. The stabilizing member may also include a bracket 130 for attaching a stiffening member 140. At least one deck plate 110 may be arranged on one of the ladders.

A frame

The frame 10 includes two sub frames. Each sub-frame includes two legs 40 the end of which including a notch for receiving a stud on a ladder and a force transfer member 48 at an end. The notch allows limited rotation of the sub-frame. The force transfer member rests on the surface of the ladder in use. The two sub frames are releasably attachable to each other and combined form a socket 70 for receiving a structural member 29 such as a mast for connecting to ropes which reinforce or stiffen the ladder. The sub frame may also include a stabilizing bar between each leg adjacent to the stud receiving notches. The frame may include a rope management member inserted into the socket including a curved surface for cords to pass over and holes for carabiner clips. Also claimed is a ladder with the stiffening frame.

A modular ladder system

A modular ladder system has a rung section having two elongate lateral stile extrusions and elongate rung extrusions spanning therebetween. Each stile extrusion may define an attachment side having an attachment face which has two attachment channels which are adjacent, parrallel and longitudinally arranged along the attachment face. Each attachment channel may have inward facing rails which define an elongate insertion space therebetween and a relatively wider connector head accommodation void thereunderneath. Furthermore, each rail may define a connector head engaging under edge. Each stile extrusion may further define a connection side adjacent to the attachment side which may define a splice joint extrusion accommodating void therein. In this way, the present modular ladder system may be quickly and easily constructed and various accessories quickly and easily attached thereto.

Locking joint for collapsible ladders and other structures

A rigid structure such as a ladder is disclosed having rotating hinges that allow the ladder to fold up and/or be disassembled and assembled. The hinge or hinges can be provided between ladder sections with one ladder section having a male hinge element, and another having a female hinge element. A cam element provided with the female hinge element can be moved between an unlocked position in which the ladder sections can rotate with respect to each other, and a locked position in which the structure is rigid.

An adjustable-height stepladder has an upper-front frame and an upper-rear frame interconnected by a top member. The upper-front frame and the upper-rear frame each have an elongate slide track. A lower-front frame, wider than the upper-front frame and positioned centrally rearward thereof, has a pair of rails, each having a slide mechanism slidingly engageable with the slide track of the corresponding upper-front frame rail. A lower-rear frame, wider than the upper-rear frame and positioned centrally forward thereof, has a pair of rails, each having a slide mechanism slidingly engageable with the slide track of the corresponding upper-rear frame rail. Each slide mechanism has a hinged swing arm and a biasing spring, the combination of which allows the slide mechanisms to engage the slide tracks although the lateral distance between the upper-frame rails and their corresponding lower-frame rails may vary. Accordingly, the stepladder is height-adjustable when the rails of the various frames are flared as well as when they are parallel.

A ladder system is disclosed which allows for stabilizing a ladder, on multiple surfaces, without the need for a second person or a great deal of setup time. The collapsible ladder system includes a larger ladder section and a smaller ladder strut section that is pivotally connected at a point which is at or below the midpoint of the larger ladder section. The larger ladder section and smaller ladder strut section are connected by a rigid adjustable linkage, or spreader, at a point that is below the pivotable connection. The ladder further includes a means for stability on a variety of surfaces. At the ground contacting point, the point where the ladder side rail ends and the ground meet, there are adjustable gripping feet, which can be independently or in combination vertically or angularly adjusted for maximum stability.

COLLAPSIBLE SAFE LADDER

A ladder system is disclosed which allows for stabilizing a ladder, on multiple surfaces, without the need for a second person or a great deal of setup time. The collapsible ladder system includes a larger ladder section and a smaller ladder strut section that is pivotally connected at a point which is at or below the midpoint of the larger ladder section. The larger ladder section and smaller ladder strut section are connected by a rigid adjustable linkage, or spreader, at a point that is below the pivotable connection. The ladder further includes a means for stability on a variety of surfaces. A modular ladder system has a rung section having two elongate lateral stile extrusions and elongate rung extrusions spanning therebetween. Each stile extrusion may define an attachment side having an attachment face which has two attachment channels which are adjacent, parrallel and longitudinally arranged along the attachment face. Each attachment channel may have inward facing rails which define an elongate insertion space therebetween and a relatively wider connector head accommodation void thereunderneath. Furthermore, each rail may define a connector head engaging under edge. Each stile extrusion may further define a connection side adjacent to the attachment side which may define a splice joint extrusion accommodating void therein. In this way, the present modular ladder system may be quickly and easily constructed and various accessories quickly and easily attached thereto.
