Vehicle staircase unit with clamping element

A height adjustable staircase unit 4, 5 with adjustable attachment clamping element 1, for use with a vehicle such as a lorry. The staircase unit comprises lifting handles 2 and attachable guard railings 3 which connect into female sockets located on either side of the staircase. Single or multiple attachment clamps may be used to attach the staircase to the trailer, where the clamps may use varying tightening techniques, e.g. packing elements (2, Figure 2) within the jaws of the clamp. The clamp may also feature a female port (4, Figure 2) suitable for receiving an inserted guard rail. The guard rails may be length adjustable, and capable of folding flat. Preferably the clamping element may be formed as part of a guard rail.

Hollow-runged ladder with collapsible guardrails and stabilisers

A combination hollow-runged ladder 1 with collapsible guardrails 2 includes guardrails that are connected to a pair of spaced-apart swivelable yokes 3, each yoke extending through a respective ladder rung 4, and locking means to lock each yoke and hence the guardrails in an extended position relative to the ladder side rails 7. The uppermost yoke when in use is provided with collapsible wall-engaging stabiliser legs 8 on each side thereof. Each leg has a moveably mounted support arm 12 such that the stabiliser can be folded out and releasably locked in position resting against a wall. The guardrails may be telescopic at their lower most ends, with the telescopable parts (13, fig 2) being ground engageable, and lockable in place to further stabilise the ladder.

PLATFORM SYSTEM

A modular platform system utilizing a number of components including a platform. The platform is configured so that each of the components may interchangeably connect to any side of the platform. The components include, for example, handrails and stairways, as well as other platforms. The platform and most of the components are formed from single, continuous pieces of metal.

POWERED LADDER FOR LARGE INDUSTRIAL VEHICLES

A ladder assembly for a work vehicle comprises a deck affixed horizontally just below an entry door of the cab. A yoke is pivotally joined to a support member of the deck for rotation about a vertical axis below the deck surface. The yoke has a pair of arms pivotally joined to an upper end of a ladder structure for allowing rotation of the ladder about a horizontal axis. A turnbuckle is coupled between the support structure of the deck and one stringer of the ladder while a mechanical actuator is operatively coupled to the ladder's other stringer and to an arm of the yoke to which the other stringer is attached. Operation of the mechanical actuator moves the ladder reciprocally between a use position and stowed position where the stowed position is parallel to and immediately below the deck.

TELESCOPING STEP LADDER SAFETY HAND RAILS AND BEAM

A telescoping safety hand rail and beam for step ladders. The invention consists of two upright telescopic rails and a telescopic horizontal beam and tray. The tray includes a container, various pass-through openings for holding tools, a paint can hook and a pass through orifice to accept the horizontal beams to allow telescopic movement. The inner rails extend upwards from the fixed outer rails and latch in place at the top and middle of the telescoping travel range. This advantageously allows the utilization of all steps of a ladder by providing a supplemental knee brace and eliminates the dangerous opportunity to stand unbraced on any step of a ladder. The invention is mounted to a step ladder with strategically placed lap hooks and double sided mounting tape.

DUAL TRACK LADDER FOR USE WITH MOBILE SHELVING

A ladder assembly for use with movable shelving is disclosed. The ladder assembly may comprise an overhead track assembly, a carriage, and a ladder. The overhead track assembly includes a first guide track and a second guide track. The carriage is operatively configured to move longitudinally along the first and second guide tracks. The ladder is pivotally and slidably mounted to the carriage. The ladder has an operating position and a stored position. The operating position is located in an open available aisle of the movable shelving. The stored position may be located substantially vertical and outside of the aisle of the movable shelving allowing the movable shelving to close the aisle without interference from the ladder.

WALK THROUGH LADDER

A fixed ladder has a first plurality of parallel rungs arranged along a low er section thereof and also has a walk-through section with vertical side rails arranged at the top thereof. The improvement of the present invention is the provision o f a second plurality of parallel rungs arranged along the flared walk-through section. This second plurality of rungs is attached at one end to the vertical side rails of the walk- through section and is easier to hold than the vertical side rails if a foot or a climber slips near the top of the ladder while mounting or dismounting at the walk- through section.

The platform has a frame (1) equipped with rolling units on a ground. A floor (10) is supported in height by the frame. A staircase (2) is intended to form an access unit to the floor from the ground. Walk-through ladder

A fixed ladder has a first plurality of parallel rungs arranged along a lower section thereof and also has a walk-through section with vertical side rails arranged at the top thereof. A second plurality of parallel rungs is arranged along the walk-through section. This second plurality of rungs is attached at one end to the vertical side rails of the walk-through section and is easier to hold then the vertical side rails if a foot or a climber slips near the top of the ladder while mounting or dismounting at the walk-through section.

A stair or ladder which has a central stringer adapted for mounting between an upper level and a lower level at a relatively steep angle of inclination, and a plurality of tread members disposed in alternating arrangement on respective sides of the stringer, each of the tread members having a foot support portion outwardly extending from the stringer. A pair of handrails is disposed substantially in a plane forward and parallel to a plane passing through the front edges of the foot support portions and positioned with respect to the foot support portions to provide support of the user. The tread members are substantially identical, except for the top tread and bottom tread of the stairway and include a foot support portion and an outwardly extending support adapted for connection to a rail. The stairway is preferably composed of components preformed of aluminum and welded together to provide a completed structure which is relatively light weight, rigid, and strong.

A lightweight roof ladder which is capable of being used on both Conservatory roofs and on the roofs of other buildings in order to allow ease of access to the places which are the most difficult to reach. These features include an arched top to fit over ridge tiles, extendable weight spreaders which will fit on the roof trusses of conservatories, ratchet sockets which allow it to be spread to whatever depth is needed. A fall prevention system for guarding a side of a platform, the system having first 5 and second members (5 of fig.2), a rope / cable 12 and a tensioner 6 for tensioning the rope/wire, the system having a deployed state wherein the rope / wire extends between the two members and guards the side of the platform, and a stowed state wherein the elongate member is positioned (preferably lowered) to allow access to the platform side. Ideally the fall prevention system comprises (at least) two posts 5 slotted in brackets 4 on the flat bed of a trailer truck, with the wire extending to and fro between them. The posts preferably have pulleys 16 located in brackets 17 (see fig.6) around which the wire rests loops. The wire is preferably tensioned by a winch 6. An independent claim relates to a retractable ladder 11 adaptable to changes in height as the trailer platform is loaded or unloaded.

Raised access platform

A raised access platform 1 has a top platform 20 with an edge and a safety rail 30 extending around at least a portion of the platform edge. The top platform has a coverable aperture 24 cut back from the platform edge. At least a portion 35 of the safety rail 30 is movable between a first position in which the safety rail extends over the aperture 24 and a second position in which the safety rail is clear of the aperture. The raised access platform 1 may be used for accessing an aircraft landing gear 81, where a portion 80 of the aircraft landing gear structure is received in the aperture. The height of the platform may be adjustable, and the platform may comprise either or both of pivotable castor wheels and fixed wheels. The aperture may be covered over by a coverplate 25, which may be pivotally hinged or slidably mounted to the platform 20.

An accessory for releasably securing to a ladder. The accessory has at least one stabilizing arm for stabilizing and supporting the ladder when leaned against a building or structure The stabilizing arm has a generally U-shaped configuration with a pair of generally parallel leg members that are spaced apart by a distance approximating the distance between the centers of adjacent ladder rungs. Each of the leg members ends in a ladder rung engaging member having a fore and an aft end, and is receivable within the hollow interior of a ladder rung. A ladder design is provided having a triple beam construction along opposite sides thereof including upper and lower side members and a handrail. A plurality of rungs extend between the upper and lower sidemembers with the ends of the rungs being welded to the upper and lower sidemembers with structural welds that transmit torque between the rungs and the upper and lower sidemembers. The instant invention is a ladder accessory in the form of a toolbox (10). The toolbox is coupled to support brackets (74, 78) mounted on each front leg of a conventional ladder. Safety ladder

An exemplary embodiment is an assistive device for enabling individuals with limited mobility to step up to a generally horizontal patient support apparatus having: a pair of foldable frames each having a generally U-shaped vertical side frame. A plurality of foldable steps is coupled to the frames. A method of a patient/user using the device described above includes the acts of: unfolding a folded device (if folded); placing the device with a rear portion facing and against an examination table or bed. Having the patient/user grip a pair of grips and placing a first foot on a lower step. The patient then places a second foot on an upper step with the first foot remaining on the lower step while maintaining his/her hands on the grips. The patient then places the second foot on the second step, thus having both feet on the upper step and in a standing position while gripping the grips. A tool for use with elevators and escalators, having two or more slidably connected assemblies, is provided. The assemblies have rails connected together and arranged in a parallel orientation. Support members are connected to the rails and a plurality of treads is attached to the support members. The treads are configured to provide a working surface upon which personnel can stand, sit or kneel and upon which materials can be placed. An extension member is connected to one end of the rails. Each extension member includes a locking member and a stop. Each locking member includes a first arm, a second arm and a third arm. In an open position, the third arm is in contact with the stop and in a closed position, the second arm is in contact with the stop.
