Thus, the fluid in the pump is prevented from freezing, and freeze-related pump damage is avoided. The heat-producing element can be the stator itself energized differently from when the stator is used for driving the pump.

A vacuum generating assembly , comprising:a rotary input member connectable to an engine rotary power takeoff;a vacuum pump having a rotor that is rotatable to generate a vacuum;a wrap spring clutch coupling the rotary input member and the vacuum pump rotor, wherein the wrap spring clutch is positionable in an engaged position, in which the wrap spring clutch operatively connects the rotary input member and the vacuum pump rotor, and a disengaged position, in which the wrap spring clutch operatively disconnects the rotary input member and the vacuum pump rotor; anda vacuum actuator connectable to a vacuum conduit and operatively connected to the wrap spring clutch, wherein the vacuum actuator is movable, based on air pressure in the vacuum conduit, between a low-pressure position in which the vacuum actuator positions the wrap spring clutch in the disengaged position, and a high-pressure position in which the vacuum actuator positions the wrap spring clutch in the engaged position.2. Implementations described and claimed herein provide an arthroplasty system for making resections in a patient knee. In one implementation, the system includes a femoral cutting guide having a patient specific mating region, and a distal planar surface distally spaced from a distal resection surface based on thicknesses of femoral and tibial implants. The distal planar surface may be used to check ligament balance. The system further includes a tibial cutting guide having a patient specific mating region and a an anchor pin hole intersecting with a proximal resection slot near a medial or lateral edge of the proximal resection slot. The tubular stent ( 1 ) is formed from a network of struts which defines a cylindrical surface about the longitudinal axis ( 4 ), the struts delineating a plurality of cells { 23, 30, 31, 32, 33 ) within the network, there being rows of cells parallel to the longitudinal axis ( 4 ). At least one cell in each row is a nodal cell ( 23 ). There is an increase in the maximum length parallel to the longitudinal axis ( 4 ) of cells from the at (east one nodal cell ( 23 ) to a first distal cell ( 30 ) in the row that is closer to the first or second end ( 2, 3 ) of the tubular stent ( 1 ).
