Parallel connected compressors are provided with an oil management scheme in which an oil equalization port on one compressor is connected via an oil return solenoid operated valve within a small diameter line to an injection port of a second compressor, and vice versa. When the oil level in one compressor drops to a level sensed by an oil float switch, the oil float switch changes state, the oil return solenoid operated valve is opened, feeding its injection port and energizing a one minute on delay timer. Failure of the oil float switch to reset itself causes the compressor to go off on oil failure, and the oil return solenoid operated valve is closed. If the oil float switch resets itself at any time during the first minute, upon resetting, an off delay timer is energized to keep the oil return solenoid operated valve open for an additional minute, and the compressor continues to operate.

OIL EQUALIZATION SYSTEM FOR PARALLEL CONNECTED COMPRESSORS Parallel connected compressors are provided with an oil management scheme in which an oil equalization port on one compressor is connected via an oil return solenoid operated valve within a small diameter line to an injection port of a second compressor, and vice versa. When the oil level in one compressor drops to a level sensed by an oil float switch, the oil float switch changes state, the oil return solenoid operated valve is opened, feeding its injection port and energizing a one minute on delay timer. Failure of the oil float switch to reset itself causes the compressor to go off on oil failure, and the oil return solenoid operated valve is closed. If the oil float switch resets itself at any time during the first minute, upon resetting, an off delay timer is energized to keep the oil return solenoid operated valve open for an additional minute, and the compressor continues to operate.

A gerotor pump assembly, and a system and method for operating a gerotor pump assembly, result in a lubrication strategy for operating in a loss-of-prime mode. An inner drive gear may be rotated in a first direction and in a second opposite direction about an axis of rotation. The inner drive gear has a number of projections extending outwardly therefrom. An outer driven gear surrounds the inner drive gear and defines a number of recessions along an inner surface configured to engage with the projections of the inner drive gear. The outer driven gear and the inner drive gear further define at least one dynamically-changing fluid cavity therebetween. The inner drive gear and the outer driven gear define an oil transfer volume clearance between a projection and a recession in a fully engaged position. Oil is maintained within the oil transfer volume clearance as the inner drive gear is rotated.

A lubricant (L) is stored in a lubricant reservoir (2c) of a casing (2). An inlet end of the lubricant takeout pipe (15) opens at the same level as an oil-level high-limit point of the lubricant reservoir (2c) in the vicinity of a lower end of a rotor (9b). When the level of the lubricant (L) moves up to the high-limit point, an excess lubricant is introduced from the lubricant reservoir (2c) into the scroll mechanism (3), since there is produced a difference in pressure between a lower space (2b) of the casing (2) and the suction chamber (14). As a result, the level of the lubricant (L) drops.
