Die Bruchstücke sollen im Idealfall von dem Gehäuseeinsatzstück (12) aufgefangen werden, um die Containmentsicherheit der Strömungsmaschine zu gewährleisten. A method of protecting slurry handling equipment is presented which involves (a) identifying one or more types of wear events (erosion, abrasion, corrosion) to which a surface of the slurry handling equipment is susceptible during operation; (b) estimating the severity of each type of wear event the surface will experience during operation; and (c) applying one or more of a thermal spray coating comprising a metal carbide or a metal nitride, and an erosion resistant organic coating to the surface. The types and severity of the wear events are predicted using one or more computational fluid dynamics models, and the application of either or both of the thermal spray coating and the erosion resistant organic coating to the surface is predicated on the types of wear events identified and their estimated severity. In addition, slurry handling equipment and components thereof protected using the method are provided.

A centrifugal fan includes a fan frame, a motor, an impeller and an axial positioning member. An turbocharger includes a parallel twin-impeller compressor and separate inlets into the two impellers. A first or outboard impeller receives one stream of inlet air and a second or inboard impeller receives its own separate stream of inlet air by way of a generally annular inlet volute surrounding the inlet to the second impeller. Air is fed from the inlet volute radially inwardly through a feed passage to the inlet to the second impeller. A plurality of inlet guide vanes are located in the feed passage for the second impeller, the inlet guide vanes creating a swirling air stream into the second impeller. Introduction of swirl to the second impeller alters the flow distribution between the impellers and affects the stability of the overall stage.

The housing defines a chamber, with an inlet and an outlet in fluid communication with the chamber. An impeller is rotatably mounted within the chamber and includes a plurality of flexible vanes. Such a pump may be incorporated into a disposable fluid flow circuit that is adapted to be mounted on a durable hardware for processing a fluid. In such a fluid flow circuit, the fluid pump may be integrated into a cassette of the circuit or, alternatively, the inlet and outlet of the fluid pump may be directly connected to fluid flow conduits of the circuit. 1.
