Ein Energierückgewinnungssystem und Verfahren sind für die Verdichterstufe eines Turboladers während Pumpvermeidungsbetrieb vorgesehen. Die Verdichterstufe weist ein Gehäuse, das einen Einlass definiert, eine Einlasskammer, einen Diffusor und ein Spiralgehäuse auf. Ein Strömungsverstärker ist in dem Verdichtergehäuse oder in einem getrennten Element vorgesehen. Falls. die Verdichterstufe nahe einer Pumpbedingung arbeitet, wird Ladeluft von einer Systemladeluftquelle zu dem Strömungsverstärker geleitet, der die Luft im Wesentlichen entlang der inneren umfänglichen Oberfläche der Einlasskammer in eine stromabwärtige Richtung in Bezug auf die Lufteinlassstromrichtung auslässt. Die Ladeluft wird in einer im Wesentlichen ringförmigen Art mit einer erhöhten Geschwindigkeit derart zugeführt, dass mindestens ein Teil des Einlassluftstroms von der Ladeluft mitgerissen wird, so dass die Geschwindigkeit der Luft zu dem Verdichterrad erhöht und Energie der Ladeluft zurückgewonnen wird.

When a blade passes the inner end a second pressure wave is formed that destructively interferes with a first pressure formed by a blade passing the corner. In a second aspect the impeller comprises first and second plates mounted around a hub, and a plurality of blades extending between the plates. The spacing between each blade and a first adjacent blade is different from the spacing between the blade and a second opposing adjacent blade.

A centrifugal compressor for a turbocharger includes an inlet-adjustment mechanism in an air inlet for the compressor, operable to move between a closed position, an open position, and a super-open position. The compressor also includes a ported shroud system.
