A torque transmission shaft is configured having increased coupling strength between end joints and a cylindrical member to achieve high transmission torque. Misalignment and disengagement of outer collars (connection members) is effectively prevented in the step of press fitting the torque transmission shaft to another component, such as a constant velocity joint. A shaft sleeve having a conical shape is disposed in a through hole of the base to connect a shaft's terminal and thus be fixed in a sleeving hole, having a shape to fit the shaft sleeve, of the bead chain wheel, so that the motions of the shaft sleeve and the bead chain wheel are linked. A bead chain is wound on the bead chain wheel. When the bead chain is pulled down, the shaft sleeve can drive the rotation of the bead chain wheel. The upper part of the cover is pivotally connected to the base, and the lower part of the cover buckles the base. The flywheel system includes a housing with a chamber in which a flywheel on a shaft rotates. The shaft is mounted on the housing via at least one damper which may allow but constrain and/or damp movement of the flywheel and shaft relative to the housing. The flywheel system has a flywheel lubrication system. The flywheel drive system may have a different type of fluid from the flywheel system. The two fluids may be kept separate by a sealing arrangement. Movement of the flywheel shaft relative to the housing is accommodated by a link member which allows the flywheel shaft to move relative to the housing. The link member also prevents the sealing arrangement from becoming damaged or becoming ineffective, and may also act as a mechanical fuse.

A kinematic coupling apparatus where mating between two objects occurs at six contacting elements, each located and oriented in compliance with the laws of kinematic design, and where each mating surface is constrained in its normal direction while having relatively high compliance in the other five degrees of freedom. The contact surfaces are preferably planar. Each coupling element is mounted on a five degree of freedom flexure, known as a stud. For maximum stiffness in three orthogonal axes, the couplings are arranged in pairs, with each pair being parallel to its twin, and orthogonal to the other two pairs. For maximum torsional rigidity, each mating pair of mating surfaces is arranged at equal and maximum distance from the center of gravity of the object being located. For highest repeatability, a positive fluid pressure is applied between the mating surfaces immediately prior to the opposing surfaces making mating contact. The precise location of the contact surfaces can be controllably adjusted to sub-nanometer accuracy by means of a linear actuator in series and collinear with the central axis of each stud.
