The rotational coupling therefore facilitates disengagement of the wrap spring from the first hub during release of the coupling to prevent undue noise and vibration and reduce wear.

A linear motion actuator includes an outer ring member mounted in a housing, a rotary shaft rotated by a motor, planetary rollers mounted between the outer ring member and the shaft and supported by a carrier rotatable about the shaft. Systems, methods, and devices are provided to generate a stable supply of electrical power in a drill string. In one example, a downhole turbine generator includes a turbine, a speed governor, and an alternator. The turbine may transform hydraulic power of a first fluid medium into rotational power of a rotating shaft. The speed governor may reduce the rotational power of the rotating shaft in a variable amount that depends on the speed of the rotating shaft. Specifically, weighted arms may shear a second fluid medium more when the speed is higher and less when the speed is lower. The shearing of the second fluid medium may generate a countervailing torque on the rotating shaft to reduce the rotational power of the rotating shaft. The alternator then may produce a generally stable supply of electrical power from the rotational power of the rotating shaft.

A method for determining design parameters of an electromechanical brake is provided. The brake comprises an electric motor connected to a brake lining by a transmission. The brake lining can be pressed against a friction lining movable relative to the brake lining. The electric motor is connected to the brake lining by a transmission that has a transmission ratio which is not constant over an actuation stroke. The first torque limiting device fully transmits a first portion of the torque to a first spindle until a first clamp force overcomes the first spring force and the second torque limiting device fully transmits a second portion of the torque to a second spindle until a second clamp force overcomes the second spring force. When the first clamp force overcomes the first spring force and the second spring force overcomes the second clamp force, the first portion of the torque that exceeds the first spring force is transmitted to the second spindle by the second torque limiting device.
