A directional hopper tee has a fluted interior vertical pipe that merges into a horizontal pipe. The horizontal pipe has an inlet that may receive bulk material, and subject to pressurized air that conveys the bulk material through the hopper tee. Bulk material may be discharged from a hopper through the vertical pipe, for conveyance for discharge from the horizontal pipe of the tee. A closure gate or door is provided through the bottom of the tee, generally in alignment with the vertical pipe, to allow for discharge or dropping of the granular material directly downwardly through and from the tee. The arcuate door is hinged on one side, and is locked by a cam lock on the opposite side, when located into closure against the bottom of the tee, but can be forced opened, through its cam mechanism, to provide for opening of the arcuate door and allow a direct downward discharge of the granular bulk material, from any hopper, and through the drop opening of the tee, as required.

A method for using a pre-assembled coupling assembly , the method comprising:providing a pipe fitting defining an inner end and an outer end, the pipe fitting defining an axis;axially inserting the inner end of the pipe fitting into a gasket, a portion of the pipe fitting within the gasket positioned radially outward from a portion of the gasket; andassembling a housing around the gasket, the housing and the gasket comprising a coupling, the coupling retained on the inner end of the pipe fitting when the coupling is in a relaxed position.2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising positioning a sealing ridge of the gasket axially between the inner end and the outer end.3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising stretching a sealing ridge of the gasket over a raised lip of the pipe fitting claim 1 , the raised lip defined between the inner end and the outer end.4. A directional hopper tee has a fluted interior vertical pipe that merges into a horizontal pipe. The horizontal pipe has an inlet that may receive bulk material, and subject to pressurized air that conveys the bulk material through the hopper tee. Bulk material may be discharged from a hopper through the vertical pipe, for conveyance for discharge from the horizontal pipe of the tee. A closure gate or door is provided through the bottom of the tee, generally in alignment with the vertical pipe, to allow for discharge or dropping of the granular material directly downwardly through and from the tee. A connecting pipe has a connecting pipe portion having, at the opposite ends thereof, connection opening end portions. The connecting pipe has a bendable portion provided between the opposite ends of the connecting pipe portion to allow the connecting pipe portion to be bent relative to the longitudinal axis of the connecting pipe portion. The connecting pipe further has rigid portions extending from the bendable portion to the connection opening end portions, respectively. The rigid portions have a higher rigidity than the bendable portion. Bending the connecting pipe portion at the bendable portion allows the connection opening end portions at the opposite ends to be fitted to associated pipe end portions, respectively. The connecting pipe portion has an elastic restoring force to maintain the state where the connection opening end portions are fitted to the associated pipe end openings, respectively.
