The pivot assembly includes a biasing system adapted to bias the valve plate to the closed position and a fusible link interconnected between the body and the biasing system to constrain the valve plate from moving from the open position to the closed position. The fusible link is configured to melt at a predetermined temperature to thereby allow the biasing system to move the valve plate to the closed position.

A building panel may be installed below a slab in the construction of buildings. The building panel supports the slab and also provides a ventilation layer that may be depressurized to eliminate or reduce infiltration of radon gas into the building. The ventilation layer may comprise channels which provide a two-dimensionally interconnected void. Ventilation panels which include collars for connecting to ventilation systems may be provided. The panels may be installed directly on compacted soil. The building panels may additionally provide sub-slab insulation and/or a capillary break for water drainage. In some embodiments the building panels are formed substantially entirely of thermal insulating material such as rigid polystyrene foam. In an example embodiment the panels are approximately 4 inches thick and have a grid of intersecting channels formed on an underside of the panels.

Die Deckenelemente sind vorzugsweise seitlich voneinander beabstandet und mit Abstand unterhalb einer Raumdecke aufgehängt. Beim Kühlen des Raumes treibt dann die aus den Ausblasöffnungen (10) austretende Kühlluft eine Raumluftwalze, welche konvektiv mit den flüssigkeitsgekühlten Lochplatten (1) Wärme austauscht, was die Kühlleistung wesentlich erhöht.

An Electronically-Controlled Register vent (ECRV) that can be easily installed by a homeowner or general handyman is disclosed. The ECRV can be used to convert a non-zoned HVAC system into a zoned system. The ECRV can also be used in connection with a conventional zoned HVAC system to provide additional control and additional zones not provided by the conventional zoned HVAC system. In one embodiment, the ECRV is configured have a size and form-factor that conforms to a standard manually-controlled register vent. In one embodiment, a zone thermostat is configured to provide thermostat information to the ECRV. In one embodiment, the zone thermostat communicates with a central monitoring system that coordinates operation of the heating and cooling zones.

The present invention relates to a reduction in the propagation rate of airborne pathogens by an improved airflow ventilation pattern in confined spaces, such as in buildings or in vehicles. Due to such operation, indoor air passing through an air discharge path bypasses a total heat exchanger by passing through a bypass air path, and thereby is discharged to the outdoors as exhaust air. However, due to stoppage of the air supply fan, although the outdoor air does not flow through the air supply path, the outdoor air flows into a building from an opening of the building.
