In a sludge treatment installation, a movable carriage is arranged transversely above a work surface of a floor. The movement of the carriage by longitudinal translation over the floor is initiated by a first drive shaft carrying a toothed wheel meshing with a drive chain. A second chain helps to guide the carriage. On the carriage is provided a rotary turning tool which engages in the sludge. Driven in rotation by a second drive shaft independent of the first, it includes pairs of semi-cylindrical paddles fixed substantially symmetrically by one of their edges on either side of a shaft driven by the second drive shaft. The two paddles in each pair of paddles are asymmetrical as a result of having different radii, with a difference at least equal to about 5%. Forced ventilation acts directly on the paddles.

A rotatable grain tower mounted on a stationary base. The base includes an opening for the removal of grain from a grain plenum in the tower. As the tower is rotated, a metering device adjacent the opening meters the rate of grain exiting the plenum. The rotating tower alleviates uneven drying due to sun, wind and other conditions to more evenly dry grain in the plenum. A cleaning device may be positioned adjacent the tower to clean the plenum as the tower rotates, thereby eliminating catwalks and other expensive equipment and devices used for cleaning stationary towers.

Methods and systems are provided for drying wet biosolids to produce a class A biosolids. Generally described, the method of treating biosolids includes drying a wet biosolids in an indirect dryer to produce a partially dried biosolids and drying the partially dried biosolids in a direct dryer in series with and downstream of the indirect dryer to produce a class A biosolids. The indirect dryer and direct dryer may be operated at an average temperature of greater than about 100° C. and may have a total combined residence time of less than about 60 minutes. Also provided are systems for drying wet biosolids including an indirect biosolids dryer and a direct biosolids dryer in series. The methods and systems are particularly effective at reducing the moisture content of the biosolids from greater than 85% to less than 10% by weight. 1. A method of treating biosolids to produce a class A biosolids comprising:providing a wet biosolids comprising a moisture content of greater than about 85% by weight;drying the wet biosolids in an indirect dryer to produce a partially dried biosolids; anddrying the partially dried biosolids in a direct dryer in series with and downstream of the indirect dryer to produce a class A biosolids comprising a moisture content of less than about 10% by weight,wherein the indirect dryer and direct dryer are operated at an average biosolids temperature greater than about 100° C. and comprise a total combined residence time of less than about 60 minutes.2. A non-woven fabric includes flame retardant fibers and binding fibers mixed with the flame retardant fibers. The binding fibers set a thickness of the fabric. Application of a flame to the fabric causes the binding fibers to degrade and the flame retardant fibers to expand such that the thickness of the fabric increases, for example by a factor of two or more. A forced air dryer for gas masks or other face pieces having a drinking tube attached. A housing having a blower is attached to a distribution manifold with a heater therein. Spaced riser tubes each with spaced tubular mask support arms attached thereto are releasably fastened to the manifold for receiving forced air therein. In one version, adapted for wall mounting, the riser tubes extend vertically downward from the manifold; and, in another free standing version, the riser tubes extend vertically upward from the manifold. Each support arm has a wire support frame or “basket” thereon configured to support a gas mask or face piece with attached drinking tube thereon with a nozzle discharging forced air upwardly through the wire frame to the interior of the gas mask. Each riser has a separate air discharge nipple proximate each support arm and configured for threaded engagement with a canteen cap connected to the drinking tube for concurrently forcing air through the drinking tube. A dryer , comprising:a drum to accommodate a substance to be dried;a temperature sensor to detect a temperature at an entry of hot air into the drum;a heater to supply the hot air to the inside of the drum;an exhaust duct to discharge the hot air passed through the drum;a thermostat to control power applied to the heater while operating according to a temperature of the heater; anda control unit configured to detect a degree of a blockage of the exhaust duct based on the detected temperature at the entry of hot air into the drum and an operation of the thermostat.2. The invention relates to a dryer for drying fuel materials such as wood bark, wood chips, sludge, garbage, peat moss or the like. In a preferred embodiment the dryer comprises a conveyor, consisting of twin endless belts, which carries the material to be dried along a vertical path defined between parallel runs of the endless belts, and ductwork which serves to direct heated air (received from any appropriate source) across the vertical path to remove moisture from the material as it is being conveyed. The ductwork includes at least one feed duct for use in delivering the heated air to one side of the vertical path, and at least one exhaust duct for use in withdrawing moisture-laden air on another side of the vertical path.

A dryer is provided. The dryer may include a main body having an inner space formed therein, a fixed drum provided in the inner space of the main body, and a tumbling device coupled to the drum. The fixed drum may have a non-circular cross-section as it is rotated. The tumbling device may tumble laundry items received in the fixed drum as it slides along an inner circumferential surface of the fixed drum. 1. A dryer , comprising:a main body having an inner space formed therein;a fixed drum installed in the inner space of the main body, the fixed drum including a front wall having an opening formed therein, a rear wall facing the front wall, and a sidewall having a non-circular vertical cross section; anda tumbling device coupled to the fixed drum, wherein the tumbling device slides along an inner circumferential surface of the fixed drum as the fixed drum remains stationary to tumble laundry items received in the fixed drum.2. The dryer of claim 1 , wherein the tumbling device comprises:a driving motor provided in the inner space;at least one connector having a first end thereof connected to a shaft of the driving motor such that a second of the connector rotates about the first end thereof as the driving motor rotates the shaft; anda lifter coupled to the second end of the at least one connector, wherein the lifter extends between the front wall and the rear wall of the fixed drum so as to contact the inner circumferential surface of the fixed drum.3. The dryer of claim 2 , wherein a length of the at least one connector is variable based on a distance between the shaft of the driving motor and a corresponding portion of the inner circumferential surface of the fixed drum as the lifter slides along the inner circumferential surface thereof such that the lifter maintains contact with the inner circumferential surface of the fixed drum along its non-circular vertical cross section as the driving motor rotates the shaft.4.
