A dart game target having a base (11) on which is assembled a plurality of individual, relatively movable target members (3, 4, 5, 6) separated from one another by a frame (2) having thin ribs (13-17, 19) interposed between adjacent members. The target members are yieldably biased in a direction away from the base. Movement of the members in a direction away from the base is limited by laterally extending projections (33, 34, 41, 56) carried by the target members which underlie the inner surfaces of the ribs. The arrangement is such that no part of any rib overlies any exposed part of any target member. Warping of the frame or of the base is compensated for by protrusions (87) on selected ones of the ribs which extend in a direction toward the base.

A double bull's-eye device (10) incorporated within a circular rib (11) formed on a dart frame (1) includes a base (101) having a top end (1015) and a bottom end (1016) engagable with the circular rib (11), an outer bull's-eye (102) sleeved from the top end (1015) on the base (101), and an inner bull's-eye (103) passing from the top end (1015) through the base (101) to be mounted on the base (101). Such double bull's-eye device (10) can be incorporated to the dart frame (1) easily. The inner and outer bull's-eyes are movable so that when darted they will contact the conducting matrix (21, Figure 2B) to generate a signal, for scoring purposes.

The boundary between adjacent scoring sections of a dartboard is marked by a line of substantially spherical beads, either retained on a metal or plastics thread or interlocked with each other. The board has two superimposed surface layers of woven plastics material.

Dart game

A novel dart game which allows one or more players to participate and which has a dart board mounted over a matrix switch and with segments to actuate the matrix switch when struck by a dart thrown by a player and which uses a first microcomputer to scan the matrix switch to detect where the dart struck the dart board and a second microcomputer which performs numerous functions such as totalizing the score for each player, actuating indicators which inform the players of the conditions and score of the game for each player. ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A dart game for use with "safe" darts has enhanced electronic scorekeeping reliability. The dart game has a target including target sections for receiving thrown safe darts, the target sections being slidably mounted in a spider target frame. The spider and target sections are mounted in front of a pressure sensitive switch matrix for electronic sensing of dart hits. An apertured sheet of resilient material placed between the target sections and the switch matrix creates a gap through which an impacted target section must be displaced before it can compress and close an associ-ated switch in the switch matrix, thereby enhancing the con-tinuity and prolonging the duration of the switch contact. Ridges on the target section sides ensure ease of motion of the target section in the spider target frame.

A dart game device has an image display body, a panel body, and a coordinate detection body. The image display body displays an image as a target. The panel body has holes each having a cross-sectional dimension substantially equal to the cross-sectional dimension of the head of a soft dart and has inclined surfaces on it, the inclined surfaces each inclining, with the boundaries between the adjacent holes as the ridges, toward each of the holes. The coordinate detection body is provided in front of the panel body and detects the coordinates of the position of any one of the holes in which the head of the soft dart sticks. The coordinate detection body has at least four sides. A light emission sensor and a light reception sensor sections of the two sets detect light from the light emission sensor are respectively arranged in parallel on the sides oppositely, with respect to the four sides.

The inserts are so arranged that, together, they form an annulus or ring of individually displaceable components. Interposed between the target base and the target segments and inserts are switches and a resilient biasing pad which bias the segments to an initial, at rest position.

A substantially square shaped dartboard 22, has hanging means 53 and 54 and a playing area comprising a number of equally sized square target areas arranged in a square configuration. A number of alternative arrangements are disclosed. The target areas are defined by a wire grid 21, which rests in grooves (26) and (27). Interlocking joints (42) and (43) provide support for the grid and allow the wires to be adjusted. The grid may be embedded within the grooves such that the grid is flush with the surface of the dartboard, in which case one set of grooves is cut deeper than the other, or alternatively the grid may stand slightly proud of the board surface. Also disclosed is a moulded plastic grid which may be pressed into the surface of the board, or permanently adhered to the surface. The reticulations in this latter grid are characterised by sloping sides, to present a minimal obstruction to an incoming dart.

A dart includes a flexible plastic tip having a comparatively blunt point and is adapted to be thrown at a dart board having an array of target plates formed with holes for receiving and holding the tip. Each target plate shifts inwardly upon being struck by a dart and effects closing of a switch for producing a scoring signal.

A dart game which comprises a target in the form of a net which is affixed to a frame which has legs so that the net is supported a spaced distance above a surface upon which the frame is placed. The darts used with the game preferably and advantageously are molded as integral units of plastic, and comprise a shaft having a plurality of fins affixed thereon to guide the flight of the dart and a tip portion on the end of the shaft which is correspondingly sized with the net to engage the net to resist removal of the dart after the tip has once penetrated the net. This tip also preferably has a weight disposed therein and a resilient bumper on its end.
