A load sensing system having at least one load sensing assembly for use with a weigh frame, each assembly including at least a first lever and a second lever. Each lever has a lever longitudinal axis, a lever fulcrum section, a lever load section, and a lever connector section spaced from the lever fulcrum section and the lever load section along the lever longitudinal axis. For each lever, a flexure plate is aligned in parallel with the lever longitudinal axis and has a middle bearing portion and opposing end portions with one of the end portions fixedly attached to its respective lever. Each lever fulcrum section has a lever bearing surface including one of (i) a line-of-contact rounded bearing edge oriented perpendicular to the lever longitudinal axis or (ii) a flat bearing face. The lever bearing surface of each lever touches the middle bearing portion of the flexure plate. Each assembly further includes a sensor having a support surface, a force transmission platform, and an output representative of total force applied to the force transmission platform. Weight supports are arranged at distal ends of the arms. The arms are movable to position weights supported by the weight supports. The apparatus also includes a lifting apparatus operable to selectively raise and lower the support. An operator can articulate the arms to storage locations of weights. The balance unit consists of an elastic double fibre working twofold as tension and flexing fibre. So that both fibres with their tensional force carry a plate, upon which lie the weighing beam and the load. The mass of which can be as great, as the max. tensile load of the fibre. So that both fibres with their flexing and restoring force sensitively measure and stabilise the out of balance. In a determined sequence, to these masses (m) suspending in a stable balance, new masses (M) are applied from the left and the right. They are adjusted to a determined distance for a determined duration smoothly and left standing, or with approximation the movement becomes slower. After a determined duration, the new masses continue movement, and exchange to the other side in a mirror image position. With the transfer in a new position, after an interval wait, a new position is set up. The strength of the interaction so produced and the speed of movement produced can be controlled to set aim and also regulated.

The arrangement is designed to guarantee accuracy by preventing contact between the receptacle and the balance structure and by connecting the receptacle to the transducer by a linkage which limits movement of the receptacle tending to change the force direction. A fluid collection, dispensing and measurement device for use in connection with a blood container, for example, and flexible tubing leading thereto. A hollow balance bar, with mobile spherical weights disposed therein is provided and rapid, forceful cut off of the blood flow through the flexible tubing is achieved when the moment created by the filling blood container, accentuated by the motion of the spherical weights, overcomes the moment produced by a preset adjustable counter weight. An adjustable clamping apparatus allows the fluid collection device to be affixed to a stationary object and subsequently adjusted to a level plane to insure accuracy of measurement. A simple modification of the device allows it to be used as a fluid dispensing device. A full container of fluid can be hung on the modified device and a measured quantity of fluid can be dispensed with cut off being achieved as described above.

The spindle is connected to a spur wheel (34) which is rotated via an intermediate gear by a spur wheel (36) mounted fixedly on the base, when a handwheel (44) is rotated. The wheels (34, 36) lie in the vertical plane containing the pivot axis (22) of the frame (16). As a result of the use of the ball screw (32), the axial adjusting forces of the sliding weight (50) are very low, with the result that production and assembly errors have no appreciable effects on the weighing accuracy when rotational forces are transmitted from the base to the weighing beam (16). A scale including a rectangular base frame supporting on opposite sides horizontally disposed torsion bars having their central portions secured to said frame and including a horizontal, plate-like rectangular platform superposed to said frame and bars. End portion of said bars support said platform by upstanding, threaded members engaged in said bars, eccentric seats on threaded member heads, and balls on said seats on which the platform rests. General platform leveling can be achieved by full-turn rotation of the threaded members and scale calibration adjustment can be facilitated by less than full-turn adjustment of said threaded members thereby shifting the locations of the balls along the torsion bars. Each torsion bar end portion has an upper and a lower strain gage for a total of eight. Two modified Wheatstone bridges use the strain gages for all resistors of the bridges whereby all bridge resistors are active and the two bridges form the sole electrical means to measure load on the scale.

As shown, the weigh-beam 10 of a weighing-scale is connected through a rod 12 and strap 13 to a pendulum 13. Combinations of capacity increasing weights 39 may be deposited upon the beam by the rotation of a cam-shaft operated by a knob 36. Two transparent arcuate charts 15, 15<a> are arranged concentrically and disposed for movement between a lamp 16 and a screen 27, one chart 15 being supported on an arm projecting from the pendulum and the other chart 15<a> being supported on an arm 30 connected through a train of gearing 31, 32 to the knob 36. The usual lenses 21, 24 and pointer 28 are provided.

Pendulum-weight apparatus. - Relates to a weighing scale wherein the weighing capacity may be increased by the addition of a counterweight to a main load lever of the first order having bearings at one end to receive the load, and being adapted at the other end to counterbalance the load. According to the inven. tion a capacity arm having a capacity weight at one end is adapted for movement so that the weight may be placed in or out of an operating position of engagement with the counterbalancing end of the main load lever, and the capacity arm has spaced bearing members located at the weighted end for moving into contact with the main load lever and spaced knife-edge. bearings at the other end for moving into contact with substantially flat bearing surfaces located therebelow when the arm is moved into its operative position, the said bearing members being adjustable relative to the weight so that the knife-edge bearings contact substantially equally with their respective bearing surfaces. The load-receiving platform 15, Fig. 4, is pivotally mounted upon a framelike arm 10 pivoted on knife-edge bearings 11. Knife-edges 17 projecting from the sides of the arm rest on agate bearings carried by upright struts 19 the lower ends of which rest on knifeedges 21 at one end of the main load lever 4 fulcrumed on knife-edges 6 and counterweighted at the end 7. The knife-edges 11, 17 are retained on their agates by means of links acting upon opposed knife-edges. A knifeedged link 25 engages a member 27 depending from the platform support. [Class 143] In a weighing-machine of the kind having a torsion or other form of flexible resistance associated with an indicator or pointer which indicates, on a graduated scale, weights proportional to the movements of the balance beam, such movements are transmitted to the indicator by extensions on the beam and indicator, one such extension consisting of at least two resilient members which apply equal and opposing forces to, and at'their point of contact with the other extension, thereby to make connection between the two extensions solely by contact. Between the posts 2 mounting the beam 6, is a pillar 15 forked at its upper end 16, the base 16a of the fork extending transversely from one side of the pillar and being apertured at 16b for passage of a bar member 17. Across the open top of the fork, a torsion strip 18 is anchored at 18b to one limb of the fork, and at 18c to an arm 19 pivotally mounted at 21 outside the other limb and adjustable with regard thereto by screws 22. The member 17 is connected to a horizontal bar 17a, secured at its outer end to one of the load-supporting frame structures 11, by means of a flexible portion 17b. The upper end of member 17 is bent over at 17c and carries a bar 27 adjustable by nuts 28 and provided with ears 26 formed with knifeedges 26a which engage V-depressions 30a in the outer two of three resilient fingers 30 formed in an angle piece 32 secured to a clamp structure 34 upon which the pointer 23 is carried, and mounted on the torsion strip 18. Class 143 A decade set of four horizontal, annular concentric weights can be removed from or placed on a balance in a predetermined order by manually-operated mechanism. The balance beam 9 is pivoted at 8, the right-hand arm carrying a fixed counterweight and the left-hand arm supporting a rod 12 carrying the goods pan (not shown) and having three spokes 15 (only one shown) supporting the weights 17,18,19,20. A disc 27 is rotated by a knob 33 through gearing 32, 31 and carries four concentric annular cams 34, each corresponding to the annular weight above it and actuating three sets of four "lifting-off" members 21 by co-action with their rollers 26. The members 21 are placed between the spokes 15 and are spring or pivot-mounted to the casi-ng. The contour of each cam is such that a weight is lifted simultaneously at three points, and during one revolution of the disc every combination of the four weights are lifted to give a series of ten different loads with an interval corresponding to the unit of the particular decade. The upper part of the Figure shows a second set of weights of a different decade.

A weighing apparatus comprises a plurality of weighing apparatus modules, each of which includes an elongated platform structure under which lies an elongated frame structure. A load cell is interposed between a downwardly directed area of the platform structure and an upwardly directed area of the frame structure in the region of one end of both structures. A bracing arrangement, which resists relative horizontal movement of the platform and frame structures but permits relative vertical movement, includes a pair of parallel mechanical linkages, one of which is connected at one end to the platform structure adjacent the load cell and at the other end to the frame at a location spaced away from the load cell. For stability, the other mechanical linkage is connected in reverse fashion, namely, at one end to the frame structure adjacent the load cell and at the other end to the platform structure at a location spaced away from the load cell. Similar modules are assembled to form a single rectangular weighing apparatus, with one load cell at each corner by upper and lower tie plates which respectively link adjacent module frame structures and platform structures.
