The analytes and thresholds are determine from a populating specific set of patient data. Variance in analytes for multiple patient samples is determined. In additional, variance in intentionally mismatched patient samples is determined. The best analytes to differentiate between patients are determined along with delta thresholds. Preferred embodiments conduct evaluation with a multivariate delta threshold determination for ongoing testing of results from the patient. Preferred software provides an interactive interface that allows a user to set a number of flags that can be handled per a predetermined time period, and automatically adjusts the delta threshold to that number of flags.

This information is used by the operator's data terminal software to determine whether the tray should be accepted or rejected. When the instruction receiver receives an instruction to perform a diluting measurement on a calibration sample, the measurement section dilutes the calibration sample by a predetermined ratio and performs a measurement on the diluted calibration sample, and the analysis section determines the concentration of the analyte in the diluted calibration sample by applying a measurement value obtained from the diluted calibration sample to the calibration curve. Information generated based on the determined concentration and the known concentration is output.

There is provided an automatic analyzer for detecting measurement value abnormalities stemming from reaction process anomalies caused by the presence of foreign matter or bubbles without recourse to complicated processing or functionality of the analyzer. Checks for measurement value abnormalities are started to determine whether the results of concentration calculation based on light quantity data from multiple target detectors each fall within an applicable determination range (steps a, b). If the results of concentration calculation are found to fall within the determination range, an average value of the results of concentration calculation with the target detectors is calculated. If the results of concentration calculation are found to fall outside the determination range, an out-of-determination-range flag is given, and an average value of the results of concentration calculation with the target detectors is calculated (steps c, d). A default fluctuation range is retrieved regarding the average value of the results of concentration calculation. The fluctuation range of the results of concentration calculation with the multiple target detectors is calculated. It is then determined whether the calculated fluctuation range falls within the default range (steps e, f, g). If the fluctuation range is found to fall within the default range, the results of concentration calculation are output to a display unit; if the fluctuation range is found to fall outside the default range, the display unit is caused to display a reexamination request and add a measurement value abnormality alarm (steps h, i, j).

In a second embodiment of an analytical system according to the invention, at least one light source is used to illuminate the sample application zone or the evaluation zone of a test element and at least two sensors detect light reflected or transmitted by the evaluation zone, the output signal of the sensors being converted into measured values by the evaluation unit which determines whether the deviation of the measured values is sufficiently small.

The detection means comprises two sensors that detect light reflected or transmitted by an area of the feeding zone or evaluation zone (A) and deliver exit signals corresponding to the light intensity, where the areas are separated from each other or not completely overlap, a light source that illuminates a sample application zone or detection zones, and a detection unit (E). The analysis system for the analysis of test elements (T), comprises means for the detection by which a sufficient quantity of sample fluid is uniformly abandoned in feeding zone of the test elements. The detection means comprises two sensors that detect light reflected or transmitted by an area of the feeding zone or evaluation zone (A) and deliver exit signals corresponding to the light intensity, where the areas are separated from each other or not completely overlap, a light source that illuminates a sample application zone or detection zones, and a detection unit (E) that receives an exit signal of the first and second sensor, converts into first and second measuring value and that compares and assesses the first and the second readings whether the deviation of the readings is sufficiently slight from one another. The deviation of the readings is determined from one another by forming the sum of the difference of the readings and the sum difference is compared with a given limit. The deviation of the readings is determined from one another as a relative deviation and is compared with a given limit. The feeding zone of the test element is covered with a network, which has quadratic or rectangular stitches. The connection line between the areas, from which the sensors receive radiations forms an angle of 45[deg] with the thread of the network.
