Crystal growth is performed by a second heat treatment using the first oxide crystal component as a seed, so that a second oxide crystal component is formed. Thus, a stacked oxide material is formed. A transistor with a high mobility is formed using the stacked oxide material and a driver circuit is formed using the transistor.

The beam shaping element is configured for recycling at least a part of the light emitted from a light emitting surface ( 26 ) of the light emitting device via reflection back towards the light emitting surface. The illumination system further comprises a diffuser ( 40, 42 ) arranged substantially parallel to the light emitting surface for diffusing at least part of the recycled light. The diffuser is constituted of a translucent diffuser ( 40 ) and/or a diffusely reflective electrode layer ( 42 ) of the light emitting device. Limiting the angular distribution by recycling light, using the beam shaping element for recycling light via reflection, reduces glare when the illumination system is used in general lighting applications. The diffuser avoids that the recycled light is confined between the beam shaping element and the light emitting surface of the light emitting element. The recycling is preferably done via total internal reflection at the beam shaping element. The presence of the diffuser improves the efficiency of the illumination system.

A liquid crystal display and a method of disassembling the same are disclosed. The liquid crystal display comprises a plastic frame, an optical film, a LCD panel and a double-sided tape. The plastic frame comprises two inner walls and two loading planes. The two inner walls respectively form a first accommodation space and a second accommodation space in communication mutually. One side of the double-sided tape respectively adheres the optical film, the other inner wall and the two loading planes, and the other side thereof adheres the LCD panel, and the optical film and the LCD panel are together installed in the plastic frame.

A large-aperture direct-view high-speed electro-optic shutter includes an electro-optic polymer material constructed to form a Pockels cell and an integrated photoconducting semiconductor switch. A chromophore-doped polymer material or chromophore copolymer, wherein the chromophore is oriented within the polymer material, exhibits a linear electro-optic effect when an electric field is applied to the device. In one embodiment, the polymer host material comprises one or more of a polycarbonate, amorphous polycarbonate, or polymethylmethacrylate polymer hosts. The optically active chromophore comprising one or more coumarin and coumarin derivatives, stilbene or tolane derivatives is incorporated within the polymer host, forming a guest-host polymer. In another embodiment, the chromophore is chemically bonded to the monomer that forms the polymer, resulting in an optically active copolymer. The electro-optic shutter device is then activated by incident light through the photoconducting semiconductor switch, rendering the Pockels cell to have an optical density of at least 3.0.

In the electronic paper display according to the present invention, red, green, blue, and black (RGBK) rotatable balls are included in a plurality of pixel spaces isolated by barrier ribs, two or more rotatable balls having the same color are connected to one thin film transistor (TFT), and the thin film transistors (TFTs) for respectively realizing red, green, blue, and black (RGBK) colors constitute one unit pixel. According to the present invention, when the rotatable balls exhibiting each of the RGBK colors are connected in two or more and simultaneously driven within one unit pixel, the pixel electrodes are made to be large and connected to one TFT. As a result, the number of TFTs can be decreased even though a large-area display is manufactured, and the volume of module can be minimized.

These functionalized cellulose-based materials have typical electrochromic characteristics, specifically the capacity to change the oxidation state, leading to a modification of the physical properties, shown by a color change when exposed to an electric potential difference, being this color change reversible. The color remains in the absence of any electric stimulus, demonstrating a memory effect. An example of an electrochromic device according to the present invention comprises a cellulose-based material soaked with a dispersion of electrochromic inorganic material nanoparticles or with a solution of electrochromic organic molecules, wherein the solution/dispersion contains at least one salt, and is finished by deposition of an electrode in each side of the cellulose-based material, wherein at least one of the electrodes is transparent.

A display may be based on a display unit that is mounted within a chassis. The display unit may be a liquid crystal display unit. A backlight may be used to illuminate the display unit. The backlight may include a light guide plate. Light from a light source may be launched into an edge of the light guide plate. Scattered light from the light guide plate may travel vertically along a vertical axis that is perpendicular to the plane that contains the light guide plate. The scattered light may pass through the display unit and may serve as backlight for the display. The light guide plate may be mounted within a rectangular opening in the chassis. The edges of the rectangular opening and the edges of the light guide plate may be configured to reduce excessive reflections. These edges may have reflection-reducing coatings, non-planar surfaces, and other reflection-reducing configurations.

An Anti-Newton Ring (ANR)/antireflective (AR) coating is provided on the second and/or third surface of the electronic device (e.g., on an inner surface of the cover glass and/or on an outer surface of the color filter substrate of an LCD device) so as to help reduce the formation of Newton Rings caused by the air pockets that surround one or more points of unintentional glass deformation. This may be made possible in certain example embodiments because the ANR coating is optically matched to reduce reflections of light between the first and second substrates.

The electrode layer is suitable because a source electrode layer and a drain electrode layer contact the oxide semiconductor layer. A stopper layer having an oxide may be provided on a layer under the electrode layer.
